It's a non original colour with a retrim, which is never a good start. M-Tec badges isn't a good sign either - have the seats got piping too? 'Alpina' alloys - real or BKs? You don't mention a folder of history so we can assume it's got more like 250k+ miles on it. Rusty arches after a respray is bad news.

So all in all, I'd say a grand. :D

ha ha black piping on seats, it has got history folder with it which confirms mileage, alpina alloys are genuine, and in very good condition at that, and my apologies, its calypso red not nightfire. it hasnt had any paintwork apart from the bonnet which was done a few years ago due to some one keying it, overall shes a very nice looking car , but not sure what to be paying for it

Somewhere between 2k and 3k depending on exact condition, but beware of the rust that's lurking somewhere on every Tech I. Less than 2k if it's rotten anywhere expensive..

inner arches are fine from what i could see and poke,it looks like the elements have got through a small stonechips in the paint as it seems to be around the outer arches only, my guess is that its fully undersealed to hide what rust it has, but i shall be digging a little deeper, he has the car up for 1250 but im doin a p/x with him for my 97 a4 estate and 300 quid. bonus eh ha ha

Zone wiki says 1984:
http://www.e30zone.net/e30zonewiki/index.php/325i

As for colour, wiki says Tech1 didn't come in red?
http://www.e30zone.net/e30zonewiki/inde ... rt#Colours

Tech2 did but with Brilliantrot / Brilliant Red not Calypso. :?

But that could differ on the convertibles I suppose. I dunno, don't know enough history myself.

yeah im pretty sure they never came in calypso was definately a facelift colour, im sure il be corrected on that though :)

if your going to see the car mate, id be taking back boot carpets etc, to check the original colour and also why rust is coming through the arches already

Most unlikely on an '80's car...

you know how the rear arch is made ? and how therres a double lip there, where the outer arch is on the innder arch, and rust starts right inside that join/lip and eats out, the inside inner may be ok but the outer part of the inner to meet the outer may not, hence it may still need inner arch panels to do a proper job, or as above its possible a bodge hash over job has been done at some point instead of a proper job, hence it somming back through, dont kid yourself about it...

Get the last seven digits of the VIN, and you can find out plenty about it.

yeah id be slightly worried someones selling you, what is described in the first post as a, 1985 cab all original aprat from some paint on the bonnet.

to what is a 1987 cab, that must have had a full respray becasue the colour never existed prefacelift, and rust is coming through the rear arches already

id go through the wiki and check in all the usual places for rust, and most of all check the vin number plate and car all match :)
