Hello peeps am currently restoring my sport and want to do it as original as poss,But I'm gonna lower the car ever so slightly an want a slightly lower profile than standard? Not so balloon like lol Dunlops? Continentals? ??

Stock size is 205/55 15....

BMW's in general ride/handle best on good quality tyres,and the choice these days is limited by your own budget and what is available.

I have Toyo Proxi's on the front of one of my cars and my only gripe is the rapid wear,but they do grip well.

Thanks for the input lads, had toyos on me old lux griped like a good un but as said don't last was thinking dunlops 205/50/15's now then x5 any recommendations for best deals???

you never get something for nothing The Toyo's come with about 2 meters of tread anyway

i used to run 205x50x15 on mine, felt much better

only problem with 205/50 is it sits 10mm closer to smashing into things compared to 205/55

205/55 for me.

I use Kumho Spt Ecsta KU31s.

i have 195/15/15 on mine and michelins. never lost any grip in the dry with these on and hardly in the damp either. only if its soaking wet.

I had only ever driven mine on standard 14's with half flat perished balloons, and staggered 16's with stretch. I recently lost the will to keep farting about with wheels that don't fit properly and threw some 15" bbs with 205/55/15 t1-r's on it. I will be fitting 17's soon to accommodate some big ol' stoppers but if you are wanting an original(ish) sport to enjoy for what it is, Oem 15's and 205/55's are unbeatable IMO

And yeah, the toyo's are good vfm for how well they perform. I always kick the back end out at junctions etc but with the toyo's I need to be doing about 450mph at 50,000 rpm to make it misbehave in the dry.

I've got 205/55/15 Goodyear Eagle's on my Sport, originally I was going to get Firestones but the garage couldn't supply them so they gave me the Goodyear's for the same price.
