Legality, stance and plain fuck-tardedness.

The first thing i would like to point out here is that EVERY modification shown in the following is "legal", however its fitment, use or resulting consequences go a long way to show the difference between "legal" and "fit for use".
Just because something is legal does not mean that what you are doing is safe and not going to be considered a vehicle in unroadworthy condition.

http://www.motoiq.com/magazine_articles ... -fail.aspx

http://www.fitfreak.net/forums/2nd-gene ... tdeez.html
(particularly the first post and the last on page 6, there is some serious denial going on in between the two posts)

Now there are no laws that specifically state lowering a car is illegal, however if either of those cars was inspected then both owners would be in for a reaming and rightly so, the extent of the lowering has resulted in a situation where the vehicle is no longer fit for purpose.
The "fit for purpose" part comes up time and time again in any legislation covering the construction and use of a motorvehicle, its one way something that is not directly prohibited can be considered illegal once it has been picked up on.
There is no way the law can encompass every situation a stancecock might dream up, however they put in wording that allows them to pick up on things like this under "not fit for purpose."

This same line of logic fits well with some of the driftcock mods doing the rounds, but the less said about that the better.

We've all hit our fair Share of imperfections on our local roads. But this should never be able to happen.
Any advice on what I should do I was told to put everything back to stock and take it to the dealership but I don't think my suspension would be the cause of this problem so I don't think the suspension would matter but since the warranty and everything I'm thinking I have to put it back to stock so Honda doesn't give me any BS at the dealership.
Ps be careful all you other fit owners with second-generation this could happen to any of us, it seems to me that it was a weak weld or something

Absolutely hilarious

Stance retards - they're a danger to themselves which may be a good thing.

Gone are the days of the nicer stanced cars and the euro scene. Just stance and their ridiculous camber, i had to remove them from facebook, sick of seeing USDM family shit buckets scraping on like 55 degrees of camber

The worst bit is the vw vortex forum link where all the rub-a-dub-dubbers cant see whats wrong with that little lot, they seem to think self clearancing axles is fine.

And here's me thinking lowering a mk2 escort on the rear with 2 inch box section was bad!

To be fair that's pretty much accepted practice for a cart sprung turd.

Thats a joke surely youd do something about the subframe scraping ! Brainless .
My e30 is on lowest setting on jom coilovers and it appears to be rather low ask euan (Verde) his seen many pics ,but i only get the occasional exhaust scrape. Now if my sump or bolts ect strarted scraping or shearing off id be taking actions !

thats just taking the piss
how is that even drivable???

I mean yeah I've got negative camber on the rear of my sport & also on the front (eibach adjustable top mounts :) amongst other handling upgrades ) but I did it because I wanted to improve the handling not try & score points from some litlle wanker who thinks his car looks good going down the road with his chassis rails scraping, & his wheels looking like they are going to fall off FFS!!!!

sorry but these Muppets are taking it to far now.

Forgot to add,

there's a bloke round my way who drives a VW bettle (1970's I think) & he's a bit of a stance cock as his car is so low he can only use certain roads because he can't get over the speed humps 8O

it begs the question why do it to such a classic & iconic car??
some folk shouldn't be allowed to own a car or have a licence.

the vw beetle is not an iconic classic, a hand full may be but tbh they suffer the same trouble as the e30, most are owned by backslapping hi fiving stance cocks.

The MB 300sl or the bmw 328 (~'38 ) is an iconic and classic car, the beetle is just a parody of the "scene" now.

It's beetle, and have been modified for super low drops way before the Stanced craze, search GFK club

And as much as a great car, a 328 being a classic? Right now? Hardly it's about as much of a classic as A mondeo

Should be clearer, the e36 328 may be a good car but agreed it is hardly a classic.

(as for the typo, well hence edit.)

Much as I really cannot see the attraction, I'm afraid the Beetle is an established classic icon.

Unfortunately, just because it's utter crap, it doesn't lose its classic status. There are many many shit classic cars - just look at the BL thread elsewhere.

I'd bet that most car enthusiasts and all classic car people will recognise a Beetle. Sadly, as proved earlier, not even all BMW people know what a classic 328 is.

Not all Beetles - a forties or fifties Split window or Oval is a nice thing as long as it's not been badly scened. By the standards of the day (1952), Beetles were very good with lovely engineering quality.
