Who here gives a shite with spelling?
Seriously, don't just follow what other people think as some of you do!

Does it really matter if a letter is missing or a honest spelling mistake has been made. I bet the cry babies (mr wiki boy) uses text speak when texting their 4 friends in life.

Who cares about the odd spelling mistakes. Get a girlfriend dudes.

I detest poor spelling and grammar. The offenders are generally deeply flawed in other areas as well.

The use of poor spelling and grammar tells the world you are stupid and lazy. Is that the message you wish
to convey ? :?

I can understand the odd spelling mistake. That's fair enough. When people use the completely incorrect tense and words I can't understand though.

"I ain't done nothing" for example. It's not hard to type correctly and it is very easy to use spell checker on the computer. So I see no reason to be totally illiterate. It just makes people come across as thick in my opinion, which is never a good thing.

You can call me by my name, you know :?

Spell however you want to. How you communicate on here directly reflects the opinion people will form of you. If you don't care about that, use txtspk. If you want clear, concise and helpful answers from people, then do them the courtesy of writing to them clearly too.

No-one's perfect (and the Wiki is proof that I'm certainly not), but the same protocols exist with language as they do everywhere else. You don't go to Tesco's in your pyjamas because people would think you were an unemployable uncultured retard. The same goes for spelling. Of course, if your attitude really is "I don't give a fuck" that's fine. Just expect to receive the same attitude when you post your problems on this forum.

What you yawning about Steve? Tuck yourself in if your tired or have you more reg numbers to check up on to confirm peoples cars are what they say they are. Saddo!

Text speak is the way it is though. I can bet everyone who pretends to be intelligent by saying spelling mistakes are wrong etc etc is talking rubbish. Stop following and speak your mind.

This has come about from the jimmy hill thread by the way.

Oh, I didn't correct anyone's spelling in the Jimmy Hill thread. I corrected grammar, so that the sentence makes sense.

This might be the UK's largest E30 community, but there's also an international readership who won't know at all what "should of", "could of" and "must of" are supposed to mean.

This isn't about pretending to be intelligent; I'm an English Teacher so I get paid for knowing this sort of stuff, and explaining why it's important. You're welcome to ignore the advice that other people pay for, just as long as you bear in mind the consequences of doing so, which is that people will always judge you by your words.

Grrr I don't know your name sorry. And Grrr is not in the dictionary is it.

I don't give a shite what people think, this topic is not about that anyway. So what if you someone goes to Tesco's in their pyjamas! Are you the kind who looks down on people who don't feel the need to dress to impress to do a bit of shopping? Judging people without knowing them is just wrong.

And the amount of time you spend on here doing the 'wiki' and correcting peoples spelling anyone would think your the jobless bum.

Let him without sin cast the first stone, and all that.

It's fine. If you don't like my contribution to the forum, you're perfectly welcome to not read the Wiki. If you think I'm judgemental for expecting people to wear clean clothes when outside, or smart shoes to a job interview, or dark clothes to a funeral, that's entirely your right.

And next time you fill in a job application, or a mortgage request, or do any of the other things adults do, please feel free to use txtspk and Inglish litturd wid spellin misteaks, and see how far it gets you.

Jeeves

If you'd like to communicate like a retard then go for it

This is a free forum / discussion board with out restriction on how many "texts" you can send per day from your Libara mobile network pay as you go chip. So to shorten certain words is not really a requirement unlike your texts

I make the effort to type and spell correctly. I won't cry over some of the grammar errors because I'm not perfect at it. I also won't cry if it's an obvious typo

But when it is a clear spelling error I cringe and everyone can use a spell checker even when posting from a mobile device

Ps I corrected my I phone cock up :)

Amen to that. It staggers me that some people only have the faintest grasp of their own language. One of the most irritating and regularly used zoneisms is "I seen ......" Do people actually talk like this or is it reserved for the written word??

No one has the balls to just say '' oh who gives a fuck about the spelling, we all know what he it means'.

Your all just impressing each other by acting intelligent and agreeing with one another. You drive 20+ old rusty cars and think they are the greatest machine ever made, you guys go beyond being enthusiasts and enjoying the e30 to being a bunch smug 'look at my shiny old car' kiss asses who think the e30 will pay of their mortgage in 5 years. NO it won't.
Get a life guys and relax. Life does not revolve around impressing people over the Internet who you will never meet. Go spend time with your families.

I'm off and don't think I be back, pretty shite on here. It's all yes yes yes and nothing really going on. I'm sure I'll get the 'wave' and 'good riddance' rubbish. Smiling on your own, proud of yourself as you type it. Hahaha.

See you guys Jim is a homo, his wife is a man!

My mortgage was paid off more than 20 years ago,or about 12 years before I discovered E30's....

But I just think a lot and do my own repairs.... :D
