...hey guys, I used to own an E30 Motorsport a few years ago and really really want another one, however Ive come across this now there is something just stopping me going for it so I thought Id drop on here and see what other people think here is the link....
http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/4002929.htm
Looks wise its just what I am after and willing to accept even though its not a genuine motorsport just dont know what to do.
Thanks
Tom

Swarovski diamond encrusted 325i badge.
That would be enough to stop me!!

fairly honest car though, the big question is what's happening under the kit?
lovely interior, the seats & stitched leather everything are a good chunk of cash, hardtop, a rag hood that works. Nice really. Make an offer, apart from the wheels it's good to go
Swarowski uber fail I agree!

haha I can see past the badge and that would come straight off if I bought it!
But taking into account the ad that interior looks in good condition (my old motorsport was ruined by the previous owner and it too had the same bubble leather!!)
It has the OBC, fully elecrtic roof which has been recovered......it looks like a clean example but its had like 11 owners and started life off as an auto but was converted by the previous owner.
Barx what do you mean whats happening under the kit? you mean the Tech 2 kit?

Yes, the body kits are a well known spot for rust and it's impossible to know the true state of play until you take the kit off and have a look behind.

Yeah but to be fair you could say that with every e30 with a tech 2 kit on, each to there own though and this doesnt worry me tooo much.

I believe in trusting your gut!
Looks nice enough but 11 previous owners...

Looks nice enough, would check well under the chassis though on a jack, or ramps, also get rid of some of the aftermarket bits, but thats only minor anyway, if the car is that good condition on the inside and outside, you would like to think it would be the same underneath the chassis and bodykit, but would definitely have a good examination if you can.

I don't believe the HID kit was £140! Nor do I believe it was polished every week if it has been stored in a dry garage
Is it just me or does it not give info on the service?
No harm checking it out, you won't know until you see it

Just looks like another typical council E30 convertible.
63K nice spec and full history actually has value.

No it's fine, I had a H reg cab before and it had prefacelift lights too, I think in the cabs it's J, K and L reg that are facelifts

1990 "H" is the changeover year for cabs. I've seen both facelift and pre facelift on the "H". Funny looking rear lights. Looks like somebody has tried to make them look like later ones.

I was told on here that removing the rear interior quater panels will give you some idea of what's lurking behind the kit, along with boot carpets, etc. Not too intrusive and not too much to ask from a seller at that price surely?

I appreciate all the comments guys and everyone is different hence why you have a lot of E30's that have been modified to suit the individual owners tastes.
Like I said I quite like the styling and appreciate there are a few things about the car I do not like but nothing in this world is perfect and they are things that can easily be change.
I owned a H 1990 motorsport previously and it was more or less the same as the car in question all be it the rear lights have been painted or modified to look like later J,K,L plate E30s and it has a tech 1 rear spoiler it doesnt look that bad in all honesty (well apart from the silly diamond encrusted 325i badge).
We'll see gonna try and drop in and see it the weekend....

I am not a betting man but I would put money on that car having never been white ..............
Run, run real fast, in the opposite direction !

Yeah know what you mean mate but gave the details to BMW and they said yeah it's white with black hood and black cloth interior but I just love e30's and in the market for one that look like this after my fateful experience with my Motorsport 5 years ago!!!!

I am pretty certain you will not find any signs of white paint anywhere on that turd.......
I assume you done a dealer spec check ? Did the 'white' car leave the factory with a power hood ? very few people would be sick enough to retrofit an electric roof to an E30 convertible and it was a fairly rare option at that age.
My dollars are on it being a stolen motorsport, rung with the white car ID. This was a very common practise back in the day when these cars were the chariot of choice of dealers/scum/vermin/lowlifes (nothing has changed

)
Have you HPI'd the turd ? The ringing used to generally occur shortly after the ID donor was bought as a write off.......

If you can, whip the ECU out and there should be a label with the last 7 of the VIN on it. If its not the same as the VIN of the shell, you *may* have found the real identity. Look in the engine bay for a paint code sticker. If it's says Macau, I'd be suspicious.

I remember your motorsport 5 years ago Tom! Did you ever finish the project?
I would steer well clear from this car - it's quite a lot of money considering it has a dodgy history, and £5k will buy you a far nicer car.
