agreed lads i think thats what im going to do, the old girl said it was totally her fault, which it was, so hopefully wont have any problems there.

theres someone coming to look at my car tomorrow to asses the damage, but considering both doors, the rear qauter, the front wing, total loss of power steering fluid etc im pretty sure itl ne a write off, so il probably be doing as suggested above and buy it back and sell the bits to you lovely gents and ladies on here :)

at the moment though, im just massively gutted id only just waxed the whole car, as we were on the way to my mates wedding. :-x

cheers for the comms above chaps made me feel better, e30 zone is a good palce to be 8)

I've always considered that polishing cars is asking for trouble - tempting fate!

I had some berk in a van drive out of an alleyway into the side of my first E30 320i more-door. Fortunately, there were witnesses to it, so I was easily able to claim the insurance payout, which came to about £1,000.

Bought a replacement driver's door from a breakers, sprayed it myself, and I was back on the road for about £200 and quids in.

Phew it's a four-door...

Ditto should've called the Police if she'd just driven out of a pub car park straight into your car!!

Get a payout (you DID have agreed value insurance - didn't you...?) and buy the car back for 20% of the agreed value. You should get a pair of doors and a decent wings for around £120. About £500 to fit the panels, repair the arch and paint the side. Not the end of the world and it looks to be worth fixing if you liked it.

yeah it was agreed at £2000,

iv not had an accident like this before so im not sure of how thigns are supposed to work, but the insurance assessor came to look yesterday, said its going to be a write off, but because the accident wasnt my fault, then they would make me an offer and deduct the scrap value of the car from that and leave the car with me.

which is what i think im going to do, im going to get it down to my parents drive the weekend and sorn it and have a think about a plan of action.

cheers for all the support folks, and yeah i really like the car so would like to fix it if its economical enough to do it :)

Thats the real scary part of owing an e30, that most may be worth 1-2000 quid and an insurer is likely to just write them off in an accident. When in actual fact they mean more to us that just a grand or so.

thats true mate, theyv given me a new insignia as a temp car, which is nice enough, but just reminds how much i love driving the e30. :)

£2000 agreed value = you'll get a cheque for £1600 and you keep the car. They may or may not ask for the logbook and MOT, and they may or may not inform DVLA that it's a write off. Could be Cat C (requiring a VIC check) or a D (which won't).
If you get it fixed for £600 (quite likely), you've made a grand and had a nice air conned Insignia to smoke around in.

cheers for the info andy boy,

like said just gutted its happened in the first place, the insignia is pretty funny its white and iv noticed when i get close to someone, they start doing bang on the speed limit and driving perfectly, im thinking its because it looks like undercover 5-0 :?

When my E34 touring got pranged they gave me a cheque for the value -10%

Are you letting your insurers sort it out?

Re:

yeah mate shes accepted liability, so apparently her insurance (RAC) are sorting everything, so my insurance tells me, also aswell i keep getting loads of calls from personnal injury lawyers! lol
all i want is either my car back how it was, minus rusty arch would be nice :) , or the money to go and buy another and il keep the calypso locked away for a long term project. i know i wierd not wanting to frag a four door
