The problem with bolting iS parts to a lower model is you will suffer from bimetallic corrosion as it will react with the non-galvanised chassis. As I'm sure you know only iS' came with a fully galvanised shell

Your only choice is to weigh it in and pray you are worthy for the mighty iS. Poor 318iSPMK was not of a high enough calibre to own one and look what happened to him.

yes if only you would have bought a "fully galvanised" (dipped in titanium) "is".....none of this would have happened.

I just bought a "is" last sunday and its got at least 3mm of galvanisation all fooking over it !!! :D :D winkeye winkeye

I know I'm asking for a typed ear bashing. But what's all this about iS's being galvanised. I checked on wiki and couldn't find anything. Although found some bits written about it on google. Were they all galvanised? My 318iS hasn't kept the tin worm at bay? The rear valance is ready to crumble, the wings don't look too pretty and the rear arches are showing signs of rot too. :(

the 'IS' shell was galvanised by the 12 disciples with the m42 16v being crafted by god himself!

the 11th commandment reads "24v gaviniser FTW!!!"

The iS uses a special galvanising system that adds volume without weight. Like hair conditioner for cars. The most important thing is to remember not to embarrass rusty M3 owners with your 4 pot rightness AND rustless wagon. :D
