E30 bodystyles

Guys

I'm fairly new to E30s-we have had our Touring for about 6 months, and it's a great car. I have been reading the forum regularly and am always interested in the "For Sale" ads.
I have a question. Bodystyles of the E30 seem to me to be:

Convertible

Touring

2 Door saloon

4 door saloon

I see lots of cars described as "Coupe" when All I see is a 2 door saloon. Surely a coupe is usually defined as having a sporty, lowered roofline-it certainly is in the modern BMW Range. So how does an E30 2 door saloon turn into a Coupe?

(This is not a criticism, I'm just interested!)

Cheers.

The term "E30 Coupe" is the same as "2.5 Sport engine"........some people like to think they have one, when in reality, the dont exsist......

...four of these Baur-Kohl coupes were built + a handful of other couple-like oddities, the likelihood of seeing any on the road in the UK is fairly minimal though :)

' four door saloon' is another commonly used misnomer. The correct term is donor :D

real oem lists coupe, sedan, convertible and touring for the e30....

wouldnt class them as coupes though, maybe the m3 can get away with it with it's sloped rear roof line, wider rear pillars, smaller window and raised bootlid.

I like how well the shape of the rear window mimics the metal storage thingy behind it in the photo..

Ugly car mind..
