E30 Zone

did everybody know that once you lower your e30, not only do you end up with negative camber but your rear wheels also toe aout. and they both induce premature inner tyres wear!

Every steering angle known to man goes out the window when you lower your car, not just camber and toe in/track.

There is generally more strain on the castor/SAI angles although most cares iv been told make allowances for this

But your point arises why you should never just use springs to lower the whole car!

i have realised this and im trying to resolve this by making a fully adjustable rear axle but then i get confused with the front!

huh? are you saying just using springs causes excess negative camber? that ain't right is it - shocks, and coilovers, and stuff doesn't correct the camber - it's the design of the trailing arms, the angles at which they're attached to the chassis, you need to change that (or the angle at which the hub is attached to the trailing arm)

It's a very well known fact, you can correct it with offset bushes.

anything lowering your car will affect the all angles.

You could correct the camber etc with off-set bushes if you used just springs!! only bad effect of just springs is that it pre-maturely knackers the stock absorbers or/as they operate in a range they are not deisgned for, that is why springs alone dont produce the same handling effect to shorter shocks and springs, and at the top end of the market the coilovers, but as far as i am aware the coilovers are only for the front suspension anyway on an E30??

It is... but what's not so well known (by me anyway!) is where you get these bushes from!

I thought they were brushes and you got em from Body shop!??

i would imagine a call to one of the better tuning shops should set you straight, look in the back of PBMW in the ''yellow pages'' and find a good on near you.

you can also have them custom made

I know it does but using just springs is cheapo

why are we moaning? we need more neggy camber to get these boats to handle somewhat.

So a newer bloody mondeo doesn't make u look stupid. Don't lower 60mm and your tyres will last!

Lots of places sell camber correction kits. Demon tweeks do them for Ԛ£15/Ԛ£20.

MrLee - You can get rear coilovers - I have them on my E30 M3 (LEDA)

Getting camber adjusters is easy (again I have both front and rear). The real problem is finding someone who has the knowledge and is willing to set them up for you (race car prep facilities will do them).

negative camber rocks!

Hi guys, as some of you will know, i have just dropped my car 40mm. Here is the results of an alignment. As you can see things are off....
Front: caster +8 28' +8 40'
camber -1 52' -2 20'
toe +0 8' +0 34'
total toe +0 42'

rear: camber -2 28' -2 12'
toe +0 22' -0 16'
total toe +0 6'

now thats what i call off, anyway, gonna have an alignment hopefully this weekend and i will put up the new angles.
