Funny E30 stories about racing modern cars on the street?

I know this is all very irresponsible, but one thing I love about my 325i turd, it it's ability to blow chavs out of the water with their slew of 2.0 tdi cars, all the shit Audi A3, VW golfs ect.
It never fails to amuse me when I see their shocked little faces after smoking them in my turd when challenged, they never expect it see it shift like it does.!
Anyone got any funny stories about their turds seeing off more modern cars?

A standard 20yr old 325i will get served by most of todays modern 'hot hatches' at a traffic light grand prix...

My 318i got smoked by a 1.6 fiesta. Was expecting it but still felt the pain watching the chav wagon in front.

Haven owned and driven the 2010 type R, 2008 Corsa VXR, 2007 Asta VXR, 2006 Focus ST and 2011 RS 250 Megane. There is no way a STANDARD 325 would keep up with most hot hatches these days (and I mean hot hatches none of this mildly warm fiesta zetec pish).
There all around the 6.5 Second 0 - 60 mark. Pretty sure even when brand spanking new the 325's were about 7.5 seconds to 60 and there is a good amount of ponnies will have bolted the stable from its original 170BHP.
Dont get me wrong I love my 325 and it feels a lot quicker than the speedo suggests most of the time but a standard 325 is not that quick by todays standards.

Surely not from a standing start?? Maybe when it gets it's shoulders behind the weight, the grunt will make good against a rice bag?

I dunno you guys, my 325i is pretty quick. I raced my brothers e46 320i, which is as you know a 6 cylinder 2.2 - 168bhp. Mines was off the mark quicker and was 2 cars ahead.
I also raced my mates bosses Audi A3 S line which is 170 bhp. Was neck and neck, he couldn't pull away from me.
Don't think mine has lost any power, It did have an engine rebuild in 2008 btw.

320i e46 are slow as fook, i just got rid of one for that reason! All cars loose power and old cars always feel quicker than they actually are!

In my younger days when a 325 was still fast, I raced a cavalier GSI 4x4 turbo and blew the one of the fittings (with hose still attached) out of the thermostat housing and dumped all the water across the road !
Oh well, I wasn't going to win anyway.
/I'm old enough to know better these days

Yep, standing start from a set of lights.
I posted it ages ago when I first had the M30 fitted.
I was

all the way.
I've had run in's with E46 330i's to, but on the motorway.
What everyone thinks of the M30 engine, and all the bollocks flying around that it's "Slow" and a tugboat, i take as banter.
Drive one is all I say.

My m20 2.7 minces all e46s part from m power stuff.. I peed on a fiat 500 abarth recently which was quite funny..
Also once raced an e36 328 sport that apprently had uprated cams, vanos work and intake filter and we were neck and neck till 130mph on the m40 to DC11 car show... Then my wee little 4.1 diff gave up & wouldnt give anymore.
Also my best mate owns a e93 330d and around and inbetween roundabouts in Milton keynes he said he was struggling to keep up...
I love my 2.7... Its shocks quite alot of people and i love it as it looks like a standard OEM e30. Apart fromt the smoked headlights......

leeparkes' thread convinced me ages ago about the virtues of 'breathed upon' M30 power
As you say, it's banter Cap'in

"Uncle" Pete, you have been in "The Game" long enough to know what is what here.
I don't do "Cruise's" with anyone.
But if you're offering, I can bring some wethers for you.

330d would piss on a 2.7 Turd.
240+bhp, 500NM torques.
Clearly he has not clue on how to drive the Turd. Roundabout sprints play right into his torques hands as well.

My finest scalp was when I raced a Merc 500SL in a traffic lights grand prix along the A13 over in Essex in my first E30, a B-reg L-Jet 320i moredoor.
There was this smug-looking brat smirking away in the passenger seat obviously cock-sure their Benz would smoke me, but my trusty turd somehow beat them!
I later got completely blown into the weeds along the same stretch by a Bentley Turbo.

stock e30s aren't very fast, even 2.7 or s14, thats why i put a s50 in mine.. and its still not 'fast'

The Merc must have been parked, even a 107 SL on 7 cylinders would discipline a pesky 320i as if it wasn't there.

too true!
a 2.3 m3 is barely any quicker than something like a clio 182, and wrong gear for the speed and a lot of rep spec diesels would easily pull out a gap too.
if you think any standard spec e30 is 'quick' compared to modern stuff then you must be picking on soft targets tbh.

What exactly would you class as 'fast'?!
My S50 Turd would pace M5's, 996's, Scobaroos etc.. That is at least pretty fast.

i read that as m50
i'd consider my e36 as pretty quick, so imagine (having never been in one) i'd class an s50d e30 as 'fast'

My best so far has been a GT3 911 (996), We were level all the way to 130 untill my diff wont let me go faster.
Saying that a Skoda fabia would dick me off a set of traffic lights until I get some grip!
To be fair I get hardly anyone try and have a go at my car, the odd friday night saxo will sit up my arse but thats all.
But compared to what is on the roads these days mine is nippy not quick. A standerd STI Impreza/Evo would show me its brake lights all the way home with ease, the only way I would pass is if there are no corners/roundabouts for 2 miles.

The only proper race I've had in my 325i was against my mate in his octavia vrs, off a roundabout in second and up to about 80 he couldn't catch me! There is original shape mini round my way that I struggle to keep up with mind, god knows what he's packing!
My e36 is a bit of a weapon mind, I don't know why? My mate has got a 36 m3 3.0 with schrick cams, carbon airbox, alpha n and eisenmann race system, RR'd at 299bhp, he couldn't pull much more than about 2 car lengths on me, I know he was working it hard, ever been behind a 36 m3 with an eisenmann race on it?
And that was before my 'penis fannymold

Weird about the 328i vs. M3 thing.. Like for like in an E30 the difference was much bigger. Mine was dyno'd at 297, the M52 had an M50 manifold and a bit more iirc.
Is that 299 at the wheels or fly? Considering his mods, it sounds weak if it's at the fly..

jhonnos right them e46 330d are pretty quick loads of torque
its even better when you have a snail on the side

i had a tvr tuscan come right up my arse on the way bk from mapping one evening after he came out of a roundabout he went out to over take i knocked it down a gear sat beside him for a bit and i just started pulling on him
you should have seen his face when i eventually let him past it was a picture

and also pushed a zx9r ninja out of a roundabout i was sitting on his arse i was 2 up and he kept looking over his shoulder couldnt believe a 20 odd year old turd was up his chuffer that was sooooooooo funny

My mum beat me in her 1.4 nissan sunny at the lights when i had my Calibra turbo
I thought my 230bhp e36 was as fast as an M3 - raced an identical car (cab) and it beat me!
And my '96 scooby which now have for sale pissed over my e36 when i raced the new owner (straight swap) on the m4!

your turd can pace a e60 m5? thats pretty quik then. i havnt tested mine yet, took it to 120 (private road) didnt think it was that quik but im coming from r32 gtr skyline 750hbp, now that thing was fast, scary actually

I couldn't say jhonno to be honest, his is a cab with hard top so I don't know if weight would come into it? My e36 has shown a few nice motors the door to be honest. I absolutely annihilated an Audi a5 2.0 turbo, I dunno how quick they are? I'm not being a street urchin about this boys I do know what a fast car feels like! My m52 impresses me every time I nail it, maybe it's just a good tight engine?

i nailed a porsche boxster with a 325i moredoor on the a1 south bound from st neots. got down to biggleswade roundabouts pushed him into it, dived up his inside with loads of wheel spin coming off the roundabout. pushed the moredoor to its limiter in all cogs and laughed as the porker owner looked highly peed off that he was smoked by a 89 turd. i loved it 30grand porker vs 300 pound turd. pulled into services and so did he and he boo'ed about how slow he felt and that my car must be race modded, it was bog standard but a very quick car for some reason
