alcantara steering wheel

thinking of getting one, are they decent to use as a daily?

i heard you cant grip them aswell as the leather ones, unless your wearing gloves :mad:

though it would of been easier to grip? providing its cloth- ish...

You can spend £140 on an OMP one or far less on an identical 'replica' one from the likes ot Rally Design or Peter Lloyd Rallying. I recommend you get a good quality boss to mount it on though. The only thing you may find is you get black hands when it's brand new as the top layer rubs off.

Also, the Alcantara becomes quite loose over time, not like the leather.

my brother had a suede omp deep dish on our rally car and that took some stick and provided great grip...

dont know what Alcantara is ...thought it was a foreign holiday destination !!

theyre grippier than leather for sure, but use them regularly with you bare hands and they go manky very very quickly, which is why people will often say don't bother unless you wear gloves.

a month or so of regular normal use and it'll start to look well used, even an alcantara gearknob which you don't hold anywhere near as much as a steering wheel is pretty pointless on a regularly used car.

it's lovely stuff to touch, but just not practical for high wear areas.
