As far as I am aware, if tyres stick out further than the arches then it wont pass the MOT.

not 100% but my thoughts are that a wheel/tyre cannot protrude beyond the bodywork.

Probably worth just ringing a local MOT place and getting the official line on things mate

wow quick replys thanks guys, thats what I thought, will ring now.

Such a shame because 9X16 brocks would make it look so nice, unless I somehow get the arches streched a little bit :S but thats a lot of effort and would prob look poo

Thanks

Just rang them, and they said its not a problem with mot, but its not legal.

Im always poping up to the mkcruise and they always have VOSA (sp?) up there doing on the spot checks for tints, etc so i expect they would pickup the wheels hanging out!! ..... and i dont want to start messing about with that worrying that my cars not legal etc :(

hmm i wonder.... Just discoverd you can get 8x16 avez a's.....

the man to talk to about this would be ANT. or for that fact jazzman (SVA regs include MOT ones)

as far as i'm aware thats his bread and butter

think the rule of thumb is, as long as the wheel does not protrude beyond the wheelarch its ok, but like I say, ask the experts :D

Get the arches rolled out a little then. Or try different Offsets so the wheels come more inboard.

thats weird, i could have sworn that we had the same rules as germany - that is, the edge of they *tyre* can't go beyond the arch. so, you get 9 x 16's, whack on 205/40/16 or 205/45/16, or possibly a 215 width, and you're done...

hmmmm yes i do like the borbet a's

But i need to find if i can fit them legally, as its not worth the hassle of getting pulled every 30 seconds!!

That lad with the red Is has cr7's and they appear to stick out of the arches..... i dont think he runs spacers eather.... so im guessing theres no real way of getting them to fit :(

i got 9 by 16 Keskins on mine. i thought the law stood as moofles says. i got 215 stretched onto mine, and have done no arch work and have no probs. they only rub with two in the back and going around corners +15mph, and bumps.
