I'm sure this has been discussed before so if someone wants to point me in the direction of a link then that'll be equally as appreciated as a reply.

As its January I've got thinking to what I want to do with my E30 this year and one of the more long term additions once funds permit is hopefully going to be a diff upgrade...

Just after a bit of a guide as to what to expect from the different ratios and the difference between small case etc.

Not looking to go drag racing and likewise I don't spend all day on the motorway so want something that'll be a good all-rounder when coupled to an M42

I have just fitted a 3.9 LSD to my 318is.it has lost a tiny bit of acceleration bit gains a little more top end on motorways.standard diff on a 318is is a 4.1 a LSD in that flavor cost a lot and r very rare so 3.9 is a good comprise I think and a lot more off them about.also the fit in no problem u just have to shorten the prop a bit (witch is easy to do)

3.9 LSD is fine for a 318is.
