Any one know anything about them as i'm thinking at getting a 325iS off a mate which has the 2.7 conversion, done by griffen motorsport.
Its a dolphin grey Sport with 6-branch, Magnex stainless system, and all the usual goodies.

If it is a REAL 325is 2.7 it would have been made in South Africa.

Otherwise there its just a 325i (no S) sport with a 2.7 conversion.

just thought i would clear that up...

Doesn't karan's have work done by griffen? or am i very wrong...

Yeah I think Karan has one of their heads? Supposed to be v. nice & v. expensive IIRC!

apparently Griffin stroked the 2.5 out to 2.7 rather than boreing it. giving it a longer stroke, crank and rods/pistons so as not to weaken the block. this sound right to any one?

sounds familiar! there's loads of threads about how to do this if you do a search

everyone strokes the 2.5 out for 2.7

yeh my 2.7 has a griffin head with all the goodies..... i have the receipt here and the head casting cost Ԛ£1500!!! which is quite a lot

im sure Ian can elighten us as to the actual work on it.... although i believe it has the following:

strengthened welded waterways
3 angle etc...
ported
flowed

dunno about there actiual bottom ends though to be honest except they were one of the first out there to offer it but i dont think they do anymore

That includes a new casting aswell. Very good though.

There are cheaper alternatives which are as good. Player6's head is a work of art aswell (his engine puts out 250 bhp). I think that wont cost you Ԛ£1500 though.

I wonder if Griffen still make a 2.7

it was using the ETA crank so its the same configuration as the others. The only difference is usually the pistons if we look at the block in isolation.

Ask them what their 220bhp conversion costs.

thats what this one is - the 220bhp conv. take it its a quality job then.

Yep! I know someone who used to own a full griffin motorsport and had an Alpina C2 aswell. He said the Griffin was much more brutal.

All depends on the condition of it though to be honest. get it dynoed before you buy it!

Are there any of these Griffin motorsport cars on here right now or even any left?

I used to live about 5 miles from there yard in lydiard Millicent i think it was.

Even sent off for there brochure/price list shortly after owning my first e30 in 94, wish i still had the paper work.

I remember you could have a variety of packages, 2.7 based on 2.5 or 2.3.
Different performance packages, all meant you got a rebuild then options on different heads and 6 branchers.

Pretty sure they were doing short wheel base Audi Quatro conversions at one stage too.

All a very long time ago, just wondered if any still about or if anyone has any pictures of them?

Was reading this post just yesterday!

Anyone know when Griffin stopped being the official importer for Hartge in the UK? Apparently, they were the official importer before Birds..

There must be some of these cars left on the road or tucked away somewhere, who knows how many conversions they did.

Not looking like there are any on here though, just the stage 3 head on the GUG

My white C1 2.3 had a Griffin built 2.7 which is now sat under a tarpaulin, slowly seizing up. Shame, it was a good engine. I doubt it'll run again for a year or three.

Wonder what ever happened to Max Powers project 320 from about 95, the purple wide arch thing ! I'm pretty sure that had a Griffin built 2.3 in it .
