What 6 branch?

Hi guys I'm piecing together a few new treats for my e30 325i cab, I'm trying to find the best 6 branch manifold to buy and where to buy it from? By best i don't mean highest priced, just best suited, I've heard that they really do make a difference from the standard one, was hoping someone on here would have already been at the stage I'am and be able to offer some pointers, cheers guys

BTB is said to do the job but costs more than the value of most cars it goes on!

There was/is a group buy going on at the moment for btb systems, maybe you can still get in on it.

Theoretically, it's just 12 nuts on the head and another six or eight nuts on the downpipe.
In actuality, as soon as you get your socket on the first nut, the stud can snap off in the head leaving you with a massive ballache that often requires you to remove the head itself to extract the broken stud.
Sometimes it's a piece of p!ss, other times its a complete nightmare, but certainly when doing a head gasket it's recommended not to remove the exhaust manifold for fear of breaking those studs. I'd say it's only worth doing if you're fitting a proven upgrade manifold like the BTB.

stud snapping of! wd40 the fucka up first, its a gamble i guess, if it snaps it snaps, sounds easy enough and ye if i do decide to get one it will defo be a btb, none of that ebay tat for me. cheers mate

I tried to take the existing manifolds off my own motor an hour ago. Three studs came out by hand!
Last nut is still in there though because it's a PITA to get to. But it wasn't a tough job. Just make sure you use 6-sided sockets instead of 12-sided, for better grip.

Try and do the job with the engine as warm as you can handle too.
Changing the exhaust manifold gasket was a job I put off on my touring for about 2 years until I braved it one day, and they all came out easily. Did it with the engine hot, helped a lot..

We replaced the gasket and done just that, snapped one of the studs off, so we've got someone on the case to get it sorted, but thought I'd might as well get a new 6 branch as it's all coming off rather then put the old one back on

Karan on here had a dolphin grey 2.7 sport with a RD six branch, that manifold now belongs to Simon13.
That sport was known as the "GUG".

I dont know, i didn't write it but i do know there is no "proven" figures for the RD manifold.
Simon's Alpina C2 2.7 was dyno'd with the RD manifold but thats not a fair test as the engine isn't standard.

I have the total BMW article on 2.7s featuring the GUG. Was initially a Stannard car.

Me to.
As far as i know, the engine started off with Ian Haynes who had the Stannard bottom end built and mated it with Griffin Motorsport head. Then Ste Nelson bought the engine and put it in the GUG then Karan ended up with it which is when the RD manifold was fitted after it was found in West Drayton scrap yard.
Simon know the full story but it think thats it.
