What sort of reaslistic fueleconomy can you expect on motorway driving 90ish mph and 5 up with luggage. I am looking to buy a 325i or IF i can get one an alpina touring and do some euro mile munching. Figures for both would be good. Or should i go for an M3 instead. Anyway mpg for all 3 would be good.

Dude.. 5 up plus luggage in an M3?? Your joking right??? My family used to own a 4 dr 325, and the 3 sons, had to sit al;ternating forward and back, with the door pax sitting side saddle. ( Mind you, the 3 of us all played Rugby!) Best bet is to go a touring i'd say.

Just my 2p worth!

as a total guess i reckon youd be doing well to hit the 20 mpg mark.

And dont forget the M3 is a 2+2.

Driving a 325i at 90mph with 1 up will drink fuel bad enough, let alone another 4 people.

I managed around 35-36mpg with 3 up plus luggage on a motorway run averaging 70mph with the odd bit of 80mph. Go much over 80-85mph and you will be watching the fuel gauge drop :? 8O

This summer I drove to Eastern Germany in my 325...fully loaded, 3-up but with the spare seat loaded up with camping gear, as well as the boot, but no external luggage racks...

On the trip overall we covered over 1600miles at an average of 25.8mpg by the OBC and I calculated that the real consumption was pretty close (within 2mpg of that)...

The drive there, almost all on motorways, was about 700miles door to door (well, door to field) and the average speed was over 75mph...Avg fuel consumption on arrival (so no messing about in towns) was over 27mpg....
