My mate took delivery of a Royal Blue 325i 2 door on 1st Aug 1988. It really was something special and we felt the dogs arriving at the pub.
Sister in law had a solid black facelift 316i brand new on the F in late 1988 and my brother took delivery of his brand new Alpine 11 525iSE in Jan 1989. In fact i'm probably one of the earliest people on the zone to put a single disc pioneer into a new BMW. The car was 5 days old when I fitted it. It was probably one of most nerve racking hi fi installs ever!!!!
You really had to live the yuppy era to know how special these cars were back in the day
I'll dig some photos out if I can find some.

i got my first E30 in 1990 it was a 1986 2 door zinnobar red 316 with 17k on the clock reg was C7**JBR (I can't remember the other numbers)
I had it serviced at the dealers and as a courtesy car they gave me a fairly new 325i tourer in Malachite Green with cream sport leather,
IIRC it had 2000 miles on the clock I really didn't want to give it back !

My father had quite a few new, the ones I remember were -
First one, zinnobar 320i 1986 - nice spec sports seats, tech 1 wheel, leccy roof etc...he tells me he couldn’t get hold of a 325 in the beginning demand was so high.
There after there were a few 325 sports and m3's
But the one that really sticks in the mind which he had continuously was a 1987 black tech 1 sport - he ran it for 300k...still on its original clutch, gave it away in the end for scrap money - as he had bought a car from WLN...nightmare!

Here you go:
The e34. Still on it's original plates so must have been less than a few months old i would think as it wore cherished numbers most of it's life.

b7tmw at 2011-11-15
Spot the e30 in the background. 316i. Saab was mine but only owned for 8 months so can date this as between mar and oct 1989. Plus two was a resto project we bought. Thats now in Belgium. Note cherished number badly spaced on the 34

he got nicked for that one!

b7tmw at 2011-11-15
and this is the only shot i have scanned of the royal blue 325. Again this would have been 1989 as i picked the herald up that year. Good use of the removable tow hitch he payed a lot of money for. And we no doubt had something along the lines of Milli Vanilli on the Alpine as we towed the Triumph back to Storrington!

The '88 Bronzit 325 turd that Simon13 is now cruising in has been known and maintained by me since '89/'90 and it still goes like a champ, albeit a dog eared aesthetically challenged champ

Yep...tried to buy their royal blue c2 very shortly after, offered strong money without seeing it, but it went for very big money following the BMW car mag article, 10k plus apparently, The first time they had it.

I had my first E30 in 1987. It was a 1985 blue poverty spec 318i B348 BYA complete with steel wheels.
It was replaced by a 1987 black Tec 1 Sport E125 FPF in 1989. I'd love to know if it's still out there and it would be even better if a zoner had it! I really loved that car and should never have sold it for a poxy Fiesta XR2

I'll see if i can find another shot. I know I have one of the Herald as we dropped it off and it's of the car coming off the trailer.
I doubt it's still about. The thing was abused beyond belief. It constantly had it's arse out of shape and before it was traded at 3 years old it had needed serious mechanical work. Seem to remember it had somehwere around the 90k up when it went. It regularly saw stupid speeds down the "mad mile" in banstead after that elusive PB!
One story and theres a photo of it somewhere too. It was only about 6 months old and he took the missus for a day to woburn safari park. And came out with half it's lip spoiler missing. the baboons were sh1tting rubber for weeks aparently!
I remember once buying the tackiest chrome and red "turbo" badge from a petrol station and sticking it on the bootlid one night. He drove it for 2 days before i got the call. He called me a c*nt IIRC!

Not my neighbour. That was another mates gaff whos dad had owned the herald since 66. We had just dragged it out of it's resting place of about 10 years!

My dad bought an 88 model 320i in 93' with 56k on it.... Had till 2006, had done 122k when my bro wrote it off... It ran like a dream and the only rot on it was a stone chip on the bonnet which was rusting. That car was an epic mobile and is what got me into E30s and BMWs and its that car that made me want to learn the trade
God i miss her!
God bless E298 LRV!

That' brilliant news!
I'll try to find some pics of it, although I'll have to scan them as they're old fashioned paper ones.
I hope I don't get any stick when I post them, as it was wearing TSW Stealths, which were all the rage at the time
