Where are all the E30s?

I got back yesterday from a trip to Brooklands (Weybridge) from York, via Alton in Hampshire. I took the E30 and in 10 hours driving I didn't see a single E30 on the road
I don't do many motorway miles but I was expecting to see a couple at least

Are they all garage queens these days?

I quite often do driving for work between 100-200 miles at a time, in and out of most midlands towns and cities and you are lucky to see 1 E30 a day that is driving, parked, whatever.
I also think E34's are thin on the ground, as is anything with the old traditional BMW front end (twin round headlamps)
Within the next 2 years I think the amount of spares/breakers will dry up, I was only thinking the other day that you don't see as many breakers in the for sale section these days.

They're getting few and far between as dailys. I've a 316 for daily use and an M3 for summer use which is sorned along with another 4 projects. It's nice to meet another one on on the road now.

+1 for sorned.
No E30 itch can be scratched until the Spring.

I'm not having a dig but, I am quite serious, drive around a poorer area and it won't be long before you see one or more. I can't go to Bridgwater or Wellington without seeing one, but in Taunton they seem to be very rare!

I reckon Bahrain has most e30 per head, I will see about three or four a day on the move and several parked up.
As per OP I spent a month in Europe and saw a handful.

I see a few down here, mostly ropey old cabs.. and the odd touring, very few coupes.. apart from the rustbucket that lives at my local swimming pool and the sunroofless facelift 316 with the knacked oilpump that's been for sale since the dawn of time..

I use my touring daily & regularly do 70+ miles on the journey to and from work.
In the last 6 months, I've seen 1 E30 (southbound on the A34) and that was a black LHD cab on Polish plates.

Ok then, let's hear the merits of keeping a 20yr old RWD car with no traction control on the icy/snowy roads that are covered in grit from December through January.
This will be interesting.

It won't last forever going through winter after winter in the UK

I've seen a lot of them recently in my area. Red 325i Touring seen frequently heading onto the A127 from Romford, and once driving behind me for miles on 'the country route' from Ongar to Romford, tatty black 2 door and red 2 door in hornchurch. Silver 2 door on bottle tops towards Havering atte Bower, there's the gold-ish coloured 2 door that I've seen about for ages that's another Hornchurch car, and a silver one that I've seen a couple of times on Hornchurch High Road.
Also; ageing lady in an immaculate green bog spec 316 touring near Roneo corner, woman in her late 40s/50s in a very shiny red 318is in the same area, and there's a proper ageing dolly bird (sixties at least) whose wheels are white 2 door.
Moving over to ongar, silver 318 2 door that I enjoyed a 'two E30 convoy' round the country lanes with, and another tatty black two door.

Pete, you must have looked like a giant Rollmop.
You were lucky to Leave Golders Green uneaten.

You are correct Rob, it wasn't a good look. As a peace offering I thought I would show the locals that I was one of them, so I dropped the doors and pulled my pants down , alas it was a bit too cold for them to notice !
