E30 Zone

Looking at trying to find a new shell for my 325i, but struggling to find anything in black or grey, in a 2 door

Seen a few cabs though and just wondering as it would be my daily and I live in south wales where it rains.... a lot!! i like the idea of a cab but always saw myself in an e36 cab more than an e30 as for me its always been the 325i sport coupe that i like!

basically my question is how useable is an e30 cab as a daily?

i drove mine as a daily for 4 yrs.. no issues

Long as the roof doesn't leak when raining you should be fine!

If you dont have a hard top the road / wind noise will do your head in after a while .

Find that my cabbie is a gloomy place to be with the hood up,but the hood down in fine weather more than makes up!
I would imagine that a hardtop will give you saloon levels of refinement.

Mine is used from April to October(ish)depending on late season weather,this year it's great.

Manual hood is quick and easy to erect and stow,but expect an insurance penalty unless you garage the car overnight.Other possible cons include a smaller boot space,and no chance of a roof rack....cabbie is not as 'stiff' as a saloon,so is better suited to standard(ish)suspension hieght/stiffness levels.

For me, that's a bonus. It drowns out the little voices in my head.

and used it at all times of the year, although not as a main
car it has to be said.

Mines been a daily for 3 years, if your roof leakes then you look silly with wet trousers, but once its got a tidy rood no drama.

Only reasons ide go for a coupe, is the wind noise, stability at high speeds and the wobbley bit in the middle.

Pretty good I'd say. I once got a folded up mattress for the tip in the boot of mine.
