Reckon there's any reason for that? Any thing I can do to improve that or to just drive like my nan when I can!

Sounds like a heavy foot and agressive driving. Just drive smoother. These cars look way better when you don't just see a blur fly past.

That's so true. Sometimes the 'boy racer' comes out in me.

Getting it running as it did when it left the factory helps.
It may be 23 years old, but there's no reason (usually) why it shouldn't. It's a BMW, not a F**d.

About the same mpg as my m52 recently got! Although most of that was in traffic.

i am hoping to get 30-35mpg combined out of my M10 316i (pretty much identical to the M10 318i) so should be able to get around the same figures.

I got 390 miles out of a brimmed tank on my iS over a very long, steady run. Worked out at 35MPG plus. 22 sounds a bit poor - even with some limited 'thrashing'.

I doubt if there's anything fundamentally mechanically wrong with any of the above E30s with a drink problem that a thorough and complete service won't put right, or at least substantially improve.

Full service in my book consists of eliminating all inlet side air leaks, checking all sensors and actuators are in spec., all wiring connectors are good, injectors are in spec. and generally everything is as it was when the car left the factory.
