E30 Zone

the car, 1989 325 cabby.
1) bloody ignoring squeak from the centre consul with the gear stick, seems to be rubbing underneath the dash, doing my head right in, any ideas please.

and number 2 which is a little more serious in my mind,
2)car temp goes up and down like a yoyo, when she is idle she slowly creeps up and when driven sits nicely at a quarter, is it viscous fan, switch, even a fuse, maybe
thermostat ?

1--There should be two screws above the ashtray securing the center console to the dash .Check they are there and they are tight.

2--Sounds like your viscous is gone.Let the car get upto temp and stick a rolled up newspaper in the fan.If you can stop it when the engine is upto temp the fan is goosed.(other people use other methods but this works for me)
