My Alpina Convertible

I have been thinking about what to do with my Alpina cab, do I chuck some money at it, to get all the metalwork up together? Or, do I sell it and buy something newer?

I would like to get a quote, but it seems that all the recommended bodyshops are quite some way away from me in Southampton!

What happened to the 911?

Beardymatt is a long way away Rav. Not a problem for the job itself, but too far for a quote.

I still have the 911 Barry, don't ever see me getting rid of it. Same with the Alpina, depending on the cost of the work it needs? It has corrosion on the offside inner wing and top of the chassis rail, where the Alpina manifold pickles the paint, and it does feel a little crusty behind the battery too.. GULP!

Doesn't sound as bad as some stuff i've seen on here.
But best to get it sorted asap on a car as rare as that.

Thanks for your comments, I know I would regret it if I sold it.

What is the most anybody has spent on thier bodywork etc?

It's not quite as clean as it looks, as I said earlier, it has the engine bay corrosion, the rear end of the sills, but yes, I guess the rest is really just a respray.. I hope?

8k! What have you had done for that?

Just had a bodyshop have a quick look at the Alpina, and to tell you the truth the rust isn't as bad as i though it may be. It will need the engine taking out though to repair the inner wing!

Some of the other things that need addressing are..

If i fill the tank I get a dreadful smell of petrol, I don't know if it's the filler neck or tank, but how much is that likely to cost me to put right?

I need to drop the ride hight at the front, wether I need to just replace the springs? Or wether I will need to replace the struts too? I would imagine that these parts will cost a lot from Alpina, should I replace them with a cheaper brand?

How much would my Motorsport interior be worth? And how much would a mint black leather interior cost?
