Been getting a few quotes at getting my sports seat re upholstered only to find out they're quoting me £1000 to £1200 to recover 2 front seats and the rear bench :O

Is this the norm or does it seem pretty steep to anyone?

What state are the seats in at the moment?

That's pretty much the going rate for good materials and workmanship, £800 as a minimum from what I've seen

£300 re-trims will look like your mum did it and will resemble car seat covers.

if anything £1000 is cheap for the front seats and rear bench, if they are doing all of the seat.

a friends having two recaro SPG's done at a cost of £800, he was happy with that quote

Buy some leather sport seats.

You'll get a mint set for £600 (as I've found out). If you have your seats re-trimmed in leather then you'll spend a grand and never get your money back for them. Totally not worth it in my opinion.

By the time you have factored in the cost of stripping the seats, cutting new foams to fit properly, any nessesary repairs to the seat frames etc, that price seems good to me.

I paid BMW close to £140 each, repeat each, for two Neon Green cloth backrest covers a couple of years back, plus another £40 or so for one set of backrest foams, the lower cushion foams/covers were NLA at that time.I then had to purchase a complete s/h sport seat just for it's frame, another £50  so the cost in bits alone for one seat was at least £370.....

Just had mine done at furniture clinic. Two front seats completely re-trimmed in tan leather with some foam work, four headrests re trimmed the same, rear seats re-furbed, lots of repairs to door cards front and rear and other bits of trim, all re-dyed, couldn't be happier, £860.

Give roy a ring at preston car trim ( http://www.prestoncartrim.com/ ) his work is quality and good with prices, i know its a bit of drive for you (well bout a hour or so) but might be worth it if its the right sort of price.

always get him to do our stuff (pic of the seat he did for my bike)

You could buy a worn interior and refurb it yourself and it'll look like this (ignore the headrest, I left it un-refurbed as a comparison):

If you didn't fancy doing it yourself I'd do it for a very reasonable price :D

Apologies, just read the thread properly! I still stand by my recommendation of buying a leather interior and refurbing it but if you want to stick with cloth then that's understandable...Apologies once again for the irrelevance of the posts so far!

Thats a rip off!

If your not in a rush to get them , I would look around the zone/ebay/pistonheads/breakers and get a full set of cloth seats in fantastic condition for less than a 4th of the price!

Once you do spend the money on redoing them, your not really ever going to get the money back if you come to sell it.

Im sure, in fact Im confident you can get a full set for a fraction of the cost.

I have a set I took out of my sport after changing them for a set of leather ones, passenger side and back seats are in fantastic condition . By which I mean no rips, no wear on headrest, all the piping intact, all mechanisms work perfectly or sorry not perfectly but fantastcially,no colour fade and no bobbling. Back seat is in fantastic condition as during there 22 yr life have hardly had anyone sat on them .

The drivers side is less fantastic so im pretty sure somewhere out there will be 1 drivers sport seat in fantastic condition.

So i stand by what i said originally, if you got time, rather than waste £1k on redoing seats look around and you will find a fantastic set.

:D

ps. is there such a word as 'fanatsically'- if there isn't, there is now

my back seats looked pretty bad when i got my car, one mate said it looked "like a girl had tired to claw her way out while being raped...." brought some rear seat covers, removed seats, removed the seat belt holders, stapled covers on tight, and put the seat belt holders back on.. looks pretty epic for costing less then 15usd will post a pic up tomorrow in day light
