Really want a genuine 318is with m tech 2 kit on it, just wondering how many there were made and how easy the m tech 2 kits are to get hold of if I can't get one already on the car!

I would have thought there would have been a fair few ordered new like that but how many survive?
You can just imagine...17yrs old in 1990, wealthy daddy and birthday coming up but 325i not on the cards so 318is it is then. PLEASE make it look like a 325i sport daddy please!! 6 months later, nice and familiar 3rd gear corner, wet, too fast, big lift o throttle and....crummppp. Sorry Dad. No more M-tech is.

theres a nice looking red one for sale on here if thats what floats your boat, not factory- but then im not sure any were done from factory ? ..and if it were, it will be 20 years old and who knows what lurking underneath the kit, if you bought one like the one for sale here youd know it was nice under as it was put on and nice pics of it beforehand , someone on here had one also for sale not long back said he was told it was a factory one and some sort of limited edition sport is LOL !!
but- why oh why would you want an is with a tech 2 kit ? buy a sport in the 1st place for a grand more , or buy a nice standard is and wait till you can insure a sport, re sell value would be more if a nice standard is than a bruvved up one

seems thats alwasy the case
however its not hard to find your cars original factory spec, there is that site you can put the reg/chassis in and it tells you what it left the factory with, or (i think) pop in your local bmw and theyl give you a print out of it, or tell you on phone , out of interest- have a go

I shall have a go, been told by a couple of owners of the car but I guess it could of been fitted after it left the dealers.
I might have to try that, im not really bothered, id prefer a car that hadn't had it from factory.lol.
Im guessing you haven't got a link to that site? iv not heard of it.

cant remember it fella , just make a new thread asking "whats that site ?" then ask the link to the site you can put your reg in and it tells the factory spec of your car, it was on here a few months ago and everyone was looking up and posting the spec of their car in the thread , maybe someone will dig up the thread
its the only way to be sure, if it is then print out the spec sheet and put in in the history and its then proof your cars factory tech 2 , although theres been a lot of them for sale and theres always the same "previous owner told me but no proof" story that the kit was factory fitted , never seen one proved to be so , i have no idea if any left the factory like that or not ?

Why not fit a tech 2 kit to a iS? If it is the look you are after, Why buy a rotten sport for just the look? a shed of a sport is £2k and you can get a minty iS for that and have some change to buy a proper engine to put in it

Mine is a"bruvved up" 318iS sportalike. And at a guess i would say its worth more than the tidiest standard iS.

James, next time you go to the dealers ask for a spec sheet and it will say if it had one factory fit.
M technic body kits (1 and 2) were available for any model E30 (M3 aside) and were often dealer fitted before the customer took delivery of the car when new. Other items like all audio equipment and M technic steering wheels and gear knobs were also dealer fitted during PDI.
I remember a zoner on here 3 or 4 years ago who had a red iS with lots of factory fitted options such as black leather, OBC, 15" BBS, LSD and a tech 2 kit.

i do agree fella if the look is what you want- do it !!
but yours if the sig pic and avatar are same car ? it has a sweet looking engine to back up the sport kit ? and then becomes a custom sport if you like, i spose when it comes so sport kits, engine changes then change things ,if the engine backs up the kit and its as fast as it looks- then thumbs up ! but if its been bruvved up to look faster than it is and hasnt got the guts... thumbs down
as the the last, there is that white is for sale asking 6k , would your car command that ? (although not sure if that is is worth that/will sell for that)

How would it be a custom sport?! Its never been a sport in its life.
Also a decent S50E30 would make more than £6k. I sold mine (which looked like a 318iS funnily enough) for £7k to bilgatese30.

there is one bloke in the BMW Car Club i dont know what his name is but i think i seen his car twice at gaydon. He has a BMW E30 318iS. I dont know how much he drives his car. However, it looks incredibly clean. It is in red. As far as i know completely original and looks basically concours. He won show and shine last year. I am sure someone on here will know the one i mean.

Is that the one that you hammered for being over priced

Yes, I would like to think my car is worth more than £6k. Asking price is very different to selling price though, And i would be shocked if the white one sells for what he wants for it.

i didnt say it was over priced - all i asked was for 6k and whatever milage it was- did the history fully back that up from new-now to 100% varify that milage to warrant a 6k price ? ..but didnt get any response and neither was it mentioned in the advert or ebay listing, so who knows- if it were you or me/most zoners selling it for 6k original low milage it would be priorety to show the history proving it all and making a big point of the sale to command that sort of price , all i know about e30 values is what you see on here, ebay,ph etc- that red absoloute minter sold for 3k a few months back, cant remember the milage but it was stunning and properly advertised, again would be suprised , yet pleased all the same to see an is fetch that sort of money, lets face it 6k for a sport- would have to be an absoloute belter of a car

Unusually you're correct. A £6000 genuine sport would need to be a "belter". There are a few about that are and there are some - even fewer - where £6000 wouldn't even be close to buying it.
However, a £6000 iS would need to be more than a "belter". It'd need to be the best one in the country - and a genuine concours contender.
