Just apply for one, they are not that fussy, the possibilty of selling lots of stuff far outweighs the possibility that you won't be. Can't imagine any real traders using Halfords as their main source of parts anyway.

I got one for showing my student card. I studied automotive journalism, but if you do/did engineering etc, you'll get one. Maybe print out an 'acceptance' letter from a uni. They're not very strict....

The card really is awesome. As an example, I got some wipers there for £6.50, down from £17!!

real handy just say you do a lot of work at home and theyl throw one at you.

I might try my luck at this, you can also get a trade card at B n Q[Tradepoint] easily enough if you wanna save some dough on DIY

My friends have one and what I believe is they'll supply it depending on what you do for work or education. Students can get one by supplying proof of their course and that it's mechanical/engineering based and my friend who got his the other week showed them his wage slip which had "Hydrolic Engineer Serving" or something like that and they let him have one.
Think if you're self employed they want proof of business.

Then again it depends who you talk to, some probs won't care too much and just hand it out. Hell my mates Staff discount still works and he got fired coming up to 3 years now.

Thats the problem i dont work in the motor trade/engineering etc... i work with wood.

Watching with interest.... I would kill for one as it can be a pain in the arse planning my visits round my mates shifts.

Sounds to me like you are the perfect candidate, working in the bespoke wood trimming of vehicles and related upholstery??
You'll need all their trimming tools, plus regular tools, plus all those fittings in packs, autoglym stuff etc!

Looks like if you knock yourself up a Business Card, claiming to be a self - employed mechanic you can get one no problem

I have a trade card and they asked me all sorts of questions and what not. But its well worth it... Everythings cheappl.. Once bought an oil filter for an audi a4 at £2!!!

I was staff, of course it was easy ;) You may find that if you can convince the person that you will be spending alot of money in their store (ie, you quite fancy a new industrial toolbox and tools to fill it with or that you are always servicing cars and that) they may be persuaded to hand one over.
