insurance up for renewal in 3 weeks, and that completes 2 full years of driving for me at the age of 32, 1990 318is
paid £500 with carol nash last time on classic and only had 1 year on road, and not had a renewall price yet,but had 2 windscreen claims inc 1 this week, just having a shop around, cheapest for normal policy ive found is 400 odd with 10k miles ,im getting daft quotes of £1200-3500

on some places , WTF ???
just had a quote from pete best classic policy, comprehensive 5k miles , uk and euro full breakdown cover, £100 excess and 0 windscreen excess,l and agreed value after pics and discussion
drum roll....
£237

very, very happy with that , feel like doing a little dance of joy
any other places i should try ?

give them a ring, their classic is 5k max miles, and cant be kept on the road, i dont have a garage or driveway, but have a private space in an off road car park, which was ok with them, however id rather park on the road at front of my house, as the car space is near a park and a football court thing- lots of balls flying about so i dont like to park there, so ideally i need to find a similar quote but can be parked on the road

thats what i thought mate, all the comparison sites for normal insurance are hitting £400 odd with mce the cheapest, up to stupid amounts, performance direct classic policy came in at £1700, others are more like its an m3 and im 18 !!
i do need a bit of advice mind..
my 2nd year completed, i have 1 ncb earnt in my 1st year, so what do i do about my ncb ? should i just write that off coz it expires if not used is it for 1 year or 2 years ? ie will i loose it if i dont take it up this year, or will it be this time next year if i dont take it up ?
also, as moentioned above...you know the car space out back, its 2 marked private spaces for my house, pete best said that to keep the car there is fine, as it has to be in drive, garage or that, but cant be on road, but i always park out front, as theres always klds playing football out the back
should i just do it anyway ? im going to find cheaper/better deal if possible ,but not sure il be ablew to beat that with break down cover inc euro aswell and the excess, not had a renewal price from carol nash yet, but coz of my 2 screen claims and the current trend of renewal increases im not expecing them to offer me a decent price like best have
thinking about it, i need to double check with my land rover policy and see if that uses my ncb, but dont think it does, im also wondering if im getting high prices on some because im putting 2 years driving and own another car but only 1 ncb ? or should i just not worry about the ncb ? although i would like to keep that alive and get a higher than 5k milage, although with the disco now 5k might be fine

Been with Lancaster for 3 Years on the E30 and used them on previous classic policies in the past - very good and no complaints - give them a try and make sure you mention E30zone as an online car club you should get a further discount.

I renewed my classic policy with Lancaster last August at about £150, agreed value on Motorsport cab, 3k pa. A couple of days later I received a quote by post from RH insurance at only £103

for some reason RH couldn't give me a quote by phone and I left it too late for shopping around and so had to go with Lancaster but defo ringing RH again come renewal time.

I am with Adrian Flux, £280 fully comp breakdown, 3000 miles a year limited etc. I thought this was ok but i wanted to pay it over 12 months, they added a 38% interest charge! Didnt mention that when i took it out, robbing gits.

to be fair, theres always a charge for monthly, and whenever ive took that option up its always been well explained before i proceeded and gave payment details, i even had flux my 1st year on my escort, wasnt 38% tho

last year my e30 was £500, think i got it done in 3 payments, and nice having rest of the year with none

Matt my lancaster policy only costs me £108 but I have the extras on top - breakdown, legal expenses, agreed value etc which bumps it up to about £180.
Just make sure you're comparing like for like
I shop around every year but so far they've been the cheapest or almost the cheapest and not worth switching to someone you don't know for the sake of a few quid

I'm also with lancaster, paid £165 a year for the 325 touring & £116 for the 320 chromie, both fully comp on limited millege, touring 6000 and the chromie 3000 I think.
When I had the 318 in November, I was paying £600 for the year on that...

swapped it for the touring and it dropped.
Definately try and ticker around with the Lancaster site and see what you can get back. What year is your car?

Im 21 now and have been looking to get an e30(on classic insurance) since the age of 17. The dream is looking realistic now with peterbestinsurance quoting me £193.45 for the year fully comp! This includes commuting to work and garaged overnight in east london and agreed value of £3000.
Quote is subject to: -Engine size less than 2000cc
-Garaged overnight
-Not to be used for weddings (no idea why)
On this quote i can get 318is and have insurance costing less than the road tax on my current mk4 golf!

Your a year older than me too!
Oddly I get a cheaper qoute online than on the phone. Another reason I like Lancaster is they are one of the few companies that allow me to choose a c2 2.5 , most other places don't include it ( well they wern't that many of them in the first place tbh ) and try to get me to have it as a modded 323i!

i know mate, its bit bizzare, got my land rover insured with them for penuts, yet the is they want 1400 , said not many were comming up, unless maybe it is something to do with them being my insurer on that, which was cheap coz it was a 2nd car and i already had another car insured elsewhere, and maybe trying to get that on classic with them -there fore meaning all my road driving (rather than just some of it) is insured with them , god knows
all im waiting for is the carol nash renewal price to come though, and see what they are saying,if no good il take up pete best

its wedding hire mate, ie its a classic car your not allowed to hire it out, it will also be limted 5k or under milage, and the agreed value is thrashed out after you send them at least 6 decent photos and all details etc and you then discuss/they offer you a value and so forth

Thanks for that polsta, makes sense about the wedding stuff now. I was just shocked to learn that i can insure an e30 at the age of 22 around the £200 mark considering ive been paying around £1700 for a mk4 golf for the past few years.

its good when you get a deal, ive only had my license 2 years (13th march) and it will be a land rover discovery and my e30 both insured for a year both with uk and euro breakdown cover, for around £450 the pair

, last year i paid 500 for the e30
