E30 Zone

i'm going to buy a new pair of control arms and i'll bee needing some lollipops preferably with fitted bushes as no doubt i will need to cut my old ones off and can't be arsed to go through the chew of having new bushes pressed in etc.

powerflex,will these be harsh as want to try and keep it comfy but still handle well?

I think yellow's the softer compound and purple is the the harder one. About all I can think of..

The Powerflex ones will be less harsh. The Yellow ones have a spherical bearing in the middle - basically solid, competition units.

Why not put std M3 bushes in?

None at all mate. Put them on mine a while ago, big difference. More castor means better turn in and feels less vague at speed. No difference in comfort to the standard ones.

Win win situation.

M3 eccentric bushes ftw.

They were £23 when I bought them through Cotswolds. Plenty of penetrating fluid and good fight and your old ones will pull off.

If you need them fitting bring them down with the zaust mate.

Neither of those bushes linked to are really suitable,you require M3 pattern bushes.

Poly one's are available,I use them on both cars,but they do transmit road noise into the cabin.
I have not fitted BMW rubber M3 bushes,but I understand that they put up quite a fight,both into the lollypop and onto the wishbone pin.
Poly one's are a very easy DIY fit.

The M3 type bush moves the wheel forward and outwards a little,improving steering feel and turn in to such an extent that even my wife noticed.....

Don't forget to get your tracking checked after, it will need a slight tweek. Eccentrics really do improve the turn in

i'll get the tracking done 1st job when i drive it there as the e36 rack will need a tweak

Do not use the power flex 2 peice crud one's. They fall apart. As above m3 one's all the way or the solid ones from treehouse racing.

the bloke selling both the ebay links did email about the treehouse ones but i think i've settled on a happy medium

They are eccentric. They by not having the hole in the middle move the arm. For a better turn in feel.

Difficult to see in this shot,but the bush's hole is offset to the outer side of the car,thus moving the wheel outward.The forward movement is gained by the front edge of the bush being a little thicker.


In very general terms,if BMW fitted an improved or altered part to M3,they did it to make the car better in some way.
