just wondering how much people would/have paid for a paint job? got quoted 2,300 quid to get a body kit and car sprayed in metalic blue! and that is with me stripping the car first to save myself a bit of money! is this a bit expensive? i have never had any bodywork done before so have no idea of price.

no that is the going rate in a reasonable bodyshop where i work its about
Ԛ£1500 for a respray plus fitting of kits would take it to about 2000

i used to do resprays for Ԛ£500 in my spare time as im a sprayer/panelbeater but dont have the facilitys to do large jobs anymore
if you look around you can find cheaper than 2000 but you usually get what you pay for

that is expensive, with you stipping the car down so it will cost you more with transporting the car back and forth and if you damage it fitting it back together you have no one to blame but youself, is it the cabrio? as its only half a car then i usally only charge Ԛ£1800 for a cabrio from start to finish hope that helps

Mine cost Ԛ£1400 for the re-spray and kit fitted, but that was through a mate doing the job for cash (would've been Ԛ£1800 otherwise). Also my car had only 1 spot of surface rust, the more dodgy bits / prep the higher the cost. If you're doing the prep yourself you should save money but it gives the bodyshop the opportunity to say: "ahhh, but the problem is with the prep mate..." :x

As for fitting the bodykit, depends what you got. I was told mine just needed to be keyed and painted, uh uh! Major job, check the thread:

 8O

Find a bodyshop which comes recommended, go do a deal for cash, say good bye to your loved one for a couple of weeks... and be chuffed as f*ck when she comes back looking lurvly , hopefully that'll help you forget how much you just spent on her!

At least she doesn't say no and get stroppy with you for looking at other 'younger' models...
