the e30 and the civic vti are two cars in my favorite car list

in my life time i have had several e30s and civic vti absolutely love them, my first car was a 325i tech 1 2 door at the age of 18 which had a meeting with a wall within three weeks of ownership

anyway lets get to the point, i have a 320i cabby which is one of my ongoing road projects, the mods on the car are, 6 branch manifold, custom straight through exhaust, k and n air-filter with a chipped ecu, about for months ago 4 months a go i went to drop my wife of to her mums who lives in leicester, on my way back home im on the narborough rd going towards the m69, all of a sudden there was this civic vti ek4 (1.6 dohc 158 bhp, 2 door hatch) up my rear end and stuck with me like a magnet but i was driving sensibly, when we approached the last roundabout which splits for the m1 and m69, the lights are red and he pulled up beside me on the right hand lane, asked me to put my windows down and said "where are you going" i replied "birmingham" at that point he starts to rev the tits of his car indicating that he wants to race, the lights turnd green green and of we go, the e30 left him standing still like he had a car from the flinstone era, within 5-10 miles i was so far ahead that i couldnt even see him in the rear view mirror winkeye

i done the whole journey in just over 20 mins, so i let you guys work out at what speed the car was doing  i was very impressed, but that had coursed a water leak from one of the core plugs

the 2.0 block was taken out and replaced with a 2.5 :D with a chipped ecu and the exhaust etc..... and then the car was locked away for about 3 months

i went down last week to pick up the car as the mot was due, got it done and passed with no issues and no advisory, happy days :D :D :D

on my way home on yardleywood road theres another civic vti (em1 1.6 dohc coupe 170bhp) up my arse and stuck like super-glue, and we bouth ended up racing, but this time this civic went around me and left me standing still and made me look like i have a car from flinstone era       :x :x :x :x :x

whats going on, the 2.0 lump beat a civic vti and th 2.5 lump rather embarrassed me

has any body else had a run with one of those remarkable pocket rockets or any other car, can you please share on here with the zonies

I'd say the first one you raced wasn't what it was supposed to be, i.e. it was a boggo spec 1.5.

I got served up in my old 325 by a CRX del sol.

I raped the arse off a Civic Type R when i first got my 24v chromie on the road though

Or maybe the second civic was tuned to the hills? Those Honda boys do like to get every last bit of perfomance out they can.

i raced a civic vti hatch in result i ended up with a broken exhaust rocker arm.

iv also had a race with bmwbmwbmw, in genral hi drives like a granny :?
but when it comes to a race hi drives like a nutter   the rear will be smoking around every bend. he is very hard on the wheel when it comes to his reputation

if you need a getawy drive bmwbmwbmw is the man for the job :P :P

p.s hi loves his japs (civic turbos) and Germans (mines mercs)

how very interesting.

With respect an 8v mk2 golf will drop a 320i, so a Civic vti will absolutely massacre one - I suspect he didn't bother racing.

i took on a 2010 audi tt 3.2 quatro with my e12 m535i all i had was i 6into 2 into1 exhuast with branches a chip and a 278 cam with raised crown pistons. TOTaly got raped on pull away as i over did the power on launch but when the rubber took hold kinda left it standing from 100mph upwards. guy was pissed as it was a brand new car wooped by a old 4 door saloon. opend the bonnet as he demanded to see what ive got under it and all looks stock lol he ended up trading his TT in for a 135i bmw

Obviously in this case the first driver wasn't trying cos the 320 only puts out 130bhp when healthy and the second 1 is down to either the civic being tuned up big time or your 2.5 runs like a bag of shite simples....

Honda's are all the same, they may put out 170bhp but feck all torque. A healthy m20b25 will be around 170bhp but decent torque due to the extra 2 cylinders.

My car started off a 320 but didn't stay that way for long! I couldn't handle the lack of grunt and the fact she was a petroholic. Before my m50 setup I did an m20 2.5 conversion (bought off e30 topless), the night I took her out I totally embarrassed an ek9 type R!!! "170bhp!! I know the kid who drives it and he flashed his lights behind me to go..... And my little white blower enialted it lol 8)

When I had my 325i cab I mad the mistake of taking on a 2lt turbo redtop Calibra. I ate a very large amount of humble pie once his turbo lag was over!

My old 320i felt like it would struggle to pull the skin off some custard let alone beat something remotley sporty in a race.
