My Cab. came with the E46 electric seats, I'm really undecided wheter to leave them in the car, or get a E30 Interior & go back to standard, what does everyone think?

Your car,your choice!

Are the E46 comfy?

I personally find E46 sport seats very comfortable but they belong in an E46, not an E30.

What is making you think going back to E30 ones?

I would go back to standard, but that's my choice Phil, you could probably serve the 46, seats on to someone on here to cover the cost ?

Thats how i would go about it :D

Might be comfortable but a e30 should have e30 seats

My opinion is they dont look right in the E30... Nice seats, but the originals look much cooler.

Is it safe to drive with the upper seatbelt mounting onto the seat rather than the body of the car?

They're comfy, electric everything, tight squeeze though, I'm a originality freak, always believed if BMW developed the car, to have those seats then so be it. Been driving the Zinny.cab recently, the E30 BMW sport seats are lovely still, Do I swap the all singing & dancing seats for the original look?

Or how about butchering a set of E24 highline sports electric seats into an E30. Must be fairly straightforward.

isn't it how they are on an e46 cab?

if it is, theyll be fine as long as the seat mounts are suitably beefy. if not then it's very dodgy and i wouldnt be using them

if that is how theyre supposed to be, i can't imagine how heavy those seats must be to be able to take the loads on the belt in a crash 8O

Yes, that's how they are in the e46 cab and more then safe. The belt anchor is secured in the base of the seat and connected up to system that pulls you back in if there's an accident.

I removed the seatbelts from my old dear's fabric cab seats to replace them in her purchased set of leather seats that were missing belts due to an accident.

They look fine. As long as they work properly and they're super comfy why change them? If the only reason is you like originality then it's a no brainer- swap them out! Someone who cares not for originality will buy them as they're lovely looking seats.
BMW developed the car years ago and seat technology has come along way (same with engines) but at the end of the day it's your choice :D

But the floor of the e46 will be strengthened so the seat mountings wont rip out. All the crash testing will have proved its safe. An e30 floor wasnt designed to withstand these forces.

It's only my opinion but I hate the look of them in E46's never mind an E30.

Your car your choice. If it were be they would be long served by now.

I was going to try this with some highline leather seats in a cabby a while ago, but i lost the loom and switches and never bothered after that. They would look more oem in a e30 :)
