Is it possible to use this lot?

Currently have a pre facelift M10 Auto (non runner) can I use this lot and create a useable car?

M20b20 manual box
325 or 320 manual prop (got both)
M42 engine, loom and ancilliaries
M42 clutch and fly
M42 manual gear linkages

Can this lot all be used together easily? I know I need the manual conversion parts that aren't listed but if I'm missing something blindingly obvious (like engine + box not compatible) before I make a useable dailly hack please nudge me down the right road

thanks

Oh, I got loads of sundries I can use, brackets and pipes and all that kind of thing

6 cylinder 'box will not fit the lesser engine.

M40/M42 sit at a different angle to M20,although both M40/M42 and 320i/M20 use a Getrang 240 'box, the bellhousing is different to allow for the way the engines sit.

Not 100%,but you will also need the longer 4 cylinder type prop as well.

320 and 318 prop are the same length iirc as its related to the getrag 240 box length.

There will be other minor things to sort as well as you get the thing running, the chromie dash/engine loom wiring differs a little so getting a signal for the rev counter will need a bit of work.

Nothing that cannot be sorted out, though.

Good luck with the project, take a few snaps and let us have a look at what you are doing.

I know willnz once told me the M20 sits 10 degrees different to the 4 cylinder cars but I just wondered if it was possible.

I will have a re-think....

I also have an E34 M50B20 available to use, might just bolt that in (I know it's slow but just after a good useable dailly hack) It's just budget will get pushed up with all the other crap I would need like servo, mounting arms blah blah :D

Then again I might just frag the car and buy a runner...........

You will still need a 4 pot type getrang 'box,or the hassle of finding a suitable diff to suit the ZF one!
Plus all the engine loom issues and exhaust manifold/downpipe problems to solve.
