Hi does anyone know about this adapter thing so that an e36 enging wiring loom can fit an e30? Reason is I'm putting a m52 vanos engine into my 318is and someone said about the adapter bit.

Danthe does a plug and play loom ,send him a pm.

This would be better in the engine swap section btw.

What you are probably referring to is a ridiculously overpriced adapter lead, made by an American company.
It would probably take about an hour to make one from bits of an E30 car loom and an E36 engine loom, but a much better solution is to splice an E30 engine loom plug directly on to your E36 engine loom. Not at all difficult, or, as said above, you can buy one from Dan already done.

There's plenty of wirring diagrams around mate and its not as hard as what you may first think!
Do what I did and copy a wirring chart down on paper then with it infront of you, cut 1-join it- heat shrink it then move on to the next 1.

The process took me around 2-3 hours, in which I took my time and made a good job, I also extended the wires to the ecu so it sat under the steering wheel :)

Pics in my progress thread in the m50 section that may help you
