Right then folks i don't if any of you read retro car's mag but in this months issue there is an e30 m3 that looks the dog's danglies,
in the front of the mag in the editors forword they say that the e30 is "the next big thing in the retro car world" not just the m3 but ALL e30's.
they even say that the numbers of "good solid" e30's is on the slide & that values are slowly on the rise,
is this a good thing? do we all own/have a thing about a car thats on the cusp of greatness?
disscuss & let's her your thoughts on this.

Its a very good thing i say.
But what pisses me off is when most ads placed on here for e30's get shot down for being over priced. How are prices ever going to rise when people who are ment to be enthusiasts dont want pay more than 1500 quid for a decent car.
I really do hope this changes and the real value of these fine cars can be realised more and more.

Couldn't agree more, everyone is a chancer if they post up an add for a car over £1000! As i own one id love values to shoot up! Also, is that E30 in your sig yours? its gorgeous......any plans to sell? ;)

Yeah, hopefully if prices start going up, fewer cars will get scrapped and broken up when all they need is a bit of welding!

no surprise really,it's been like that for a while now and doesn't need a car mag to announce what we already know.
but for the outside world....... 'ROLL UP'
that's what i say.

Better off scrapping more so that the decent ones left over can rise in price since there'll be fewer left.

One of my favourite E30s on the Zone. Looked stunning when it was featured in Total BMW. A credit to you sir!

The more that are scrapped, the less on the road and the simple laws of supply and demand take over. I believe that prices will increase in 2011. The economic climate has kept prices down as there have been a lot of E30 2nd cars sold in the last year, especially cabbies.

The only problem with prices rises is parts will go up as well.

Already seeing this with parts that BMW are having re-manufactured.
BUT,at least BMW are interested enough to re-make otherwise NLA parts, and as they are having them made to the proper standard, they fit properly.
David Manners, the Jaguar/Daimler/Mini parts specialist in Oldbury, had Daimler V8 waterpumps re-manufactured and was flogging them at £250 each,I tried to fit one and is shattered the alloy housing....half a mm oversize...

I hope it does not go like air cooled beetles. it used to be everyone could afford one(vw) and spares were cheap. any one could get into it and have fun. Now they(vw) are getting silly in price. E30s are where VW aircooled was about 20 years ago. Great fun to drive, own and work on.

The only issue we'll have with prices going up is buying parts. Just because the prices rise, doesnt mean we have an investment because the majority of us won't be selling them anyway... So its dead money in a scene, unless you sell up and buy something to replace it. At that point you'd regret it and end up paying the same money back for a descent one.
But its a good thing. I'm glad I own 3.

Might be rubbish ones but atleast I got some while the prices we're low.

No air-cooled VW was ever great fun to drive, own or work on. Ever.

I saw this mag in the shop had a quick read of it this sounds really good for all of us!As for parts i don't think they will go up in price i mean some of the parts they don't even make any more.(that's where the zone comes in)
As for all the hard work you've put in to get your car's back to factory spec & show room condition, more if you do sell at least you'll get back a nice sum..

the parts they do make will be held static at a max of the new bmw/gsf price, the ones they dont make will sky rocket.
will we be looking at £1000 for a mtec 2 kit?

Not mine, but what a tidy car for the purist to keep. 28 years old, unbelievable really.

yes the aircooled "fun to work on" was perhaps a bit of a rash(bollocks) statement.
