By the look of it,it's the gadget on one of the ign leads that tells the ECU which batch of injectors to fire.

Martens like to chew wiring becuase of a chemical in the insulation, presumably the bmw ht leads insulation has something that they don't like in it.

Yeah, it's circiut within that when energized produces an ultrasonic frequency that deters rodents from making home in your engine bay...

...same way that when your neighbours are bumping dubstep at 3am you want to move house!
