Not needed for the E30.
Also, NGK have a strong following for the M20.

Bosch W8LCR or NGK BPR6ES are the only ones worth running in an m20, they don't foul up as easily as the Platinum fancy-BS 4+ plugs will...

really in these turds it will make little odds, iv had ngk, champion and bosch in the m20 with little difference (if any)
just traced a miss fire on cold start to plugs that were at least twice the gap they should be (over 1.4mm rather than the recommended 0.8mm) and that thing still ran fine, grumpy on cold start but after 30 secs or so it would clear and run good as ever, 6 nice light brown plugs and 28-32 mpg on a run.
for what its worth i just put a new set for bosch super plus plugs in for the mot this year with the full service (as gsf robbed me of £11 for 6) and theres nothing more to be said other than there "fine", nothing to report, fit in the holes and spark.
until you get into the realms of stupid high cylinder pressures and temperatures (turbo) or fancy ignition systems (pin to piston crown, surface discharge or laser ignition) then a plug is a plug.
