Cleaning rust off parts

After getting ahold of my 6kg flywheel and clutch from my old car a few days ago (almost a year since i wrote it off!) I'd been trying to work out how to clean the year's worth of rust from it..

So after a rumage in the garage, one plastic tub was dug out, 6 litres of vinegar later.. 24 hours soaking.. and a brief scrub with a wire brush, the rust just fell off. :D Hopefully some spare coffee filters should clean the vinegar ready for next time.

Yeah its good for cleaning certain metals and just eats others. I've used it on fd's, flywheels and gear sets.

However, due to it eating a carb I prefer bilt-hamber http://www.bilthamber.com/deoxc.html myself.

More expensive but works very well :)

Get yourself some citric acid and follow the instructions for deox-c, same results just cheaper.
