Do we like tourings more than other E owners

Looking around at the cars on display at Santa Pod yesterday, there seemed to be a complete lack of tourings from owners of other BMW's.

Touring can be as council as the best of them.oldroydsr4 wrote:Most probably- it's a shame because a well modified touring looks better than it's saloon or coupe counterparts with better weight distribution and the non council image.
Exactly, why the difference?oomz1975 wrote: there were definately more e30 tourings than all the other model tourings put together.
Only my opinion, however the weight distribution on a 6pot touring is better than a saloon - fact. One of my coleagues drives for the Mercedes Benz Silver Arrows team, he supports my theory fully and if given a choice will pick an estate AMG merc over the saloons with no exception for the driving displays.bss325i wrote:What a load of garbage!oldroydsr4 wrote:Most probably- it's a shame because a well modified touring looks better than it's saloon or coupe counterparts with better weight distribution and the non council image.

The weight balance is negligeable and the looks are subjective.oldroydsr4 wrote:Only my opinion, however the weight distribution on a 6pot touring is better than a saloon - fact. Very true. Took a lot of looking before I found my 54K 325i.wardpaa wrote:Hard to find a good 325i touring with under 100K miles and undamaged interior. They do tend to cover more miles and more likely to be workers.
A 325i touring with over 150k miles is just run in nicely, as for the interior, that can be changed quite easily.wardpaa wrote:Hard to find a good 325i touring with under 100K miles and undamaged interior. They do tend to cover more miles and more likely to be workers.
Mine just tripped 78 thousand on the retun run from Santa Pod. My interior was swapped for sport cloth a couple of years ago. The original comfort cloth seats were mint and sold them to a Zoner.wardpaa wrote:Hard to find a good 325i touring with under 100K miles and undamaged interior. As for the councilness of it, Cabrios take the win!
The best way to have an e30 touring is standard inmo, maybe a tech2 kit and stock alloys and you have a very nice touring. burgerkings look nasty on them but always seem to find there way on to them as they do almost all e30's these days, i swapped mine for some tatty BBS's i hated them so much, looked much better on the standard 15'se30topless wrote:oldroydsr4 wrote:Most probably- it's a shame because a well modified touring looks better than it's saloon or coupe counterparts with better weight distribution and the non council image.
tourings are 100% more council than any other E30.
they are always worth much less than any 2 door or Cab, and fall in to council ownership very easily,
IMO even a 4 door is a better car unless you own a Big dog !
better weight distribution, how do you work that out ?

I doubt that very much! Not saying that 2dr's dont get molested, far from it. Its just that cabs generally attract council types, not just E30's!Rav335uk wrote:Probably as many as the 2 door Saloons on herebss325i wrote:Come on Rav, dont be Coy.
