I went to get some BPR6ES plugs today but my local motor factor didn't stock them, and only had Bosch. I didn't get them as i've heard nobody seems to like using Bosch plugs. Why is this ? BMW used Bosch plugs from factory...

bosch plugs are shite, they last nowhere near as long as ngk r's. ive always used ngk plugs in all my cars and cars that i have serviced for peolple... ngk bpr6es are the best plugs to use on a b25

I hate Bosch plugs too, NGK much, much better in my opinion. I don't know why BM used Bosch (in some E30 engines) but then I guess Bosch were/are on the books for all sorts of other electrical bits (lights, AFMs, all the rest) and so they got the sparks contract.

In the US guys seem to run BPR6ES if you have a decent CR because its a colder plug than stock other wise ZGR5A (stock) which is a comparable plug to the old Bosch Supers. Being you guys are blessed with higher CR then the 8.8:1 we get in the I's over here I'm sure BPR6ES works great. Right now I'm running ZGR5A in my Hartge H23 with 10:1 compression with no issues, but I just ordered a set of BPR6ES to see if it makes any difference.
