E28 M535i front seats into an E30 touring?

Does anybody know if the front seats from a 1985 'C' plate M535i will fit into my 1993 'L' plate 316i touring?
The guy who has them in his garage is convinced they'll fit my car (he's a retired BMW mechanic), but I want to be sure before I part with my cash.
Thanks

I seem to recall reading on here somewhere that E28 and E30 seats will swap directly either way.

Fitting method is the same, but running a tape measure over the fitting points before parting with cash would be a good idea!
E34 seats are certainly not a direct or easy fit into E30....

As far as I know, you'll need to swap or weld up the seat runners, sure Pauls done that.

If the seller's not too far away...could always drive over and just try to see if they fit before buyin...it's only 4 bolts...if they don't fit don't buy??

Thanks for the advice eveyone.
The seller is only a 10 minute drive from my house, so after your recommendations I'm going to take my car there, unbolt my passenger seat and see what happens...............
I'll let you know the results later.

They will 100% fit as they are the same seat with just the runners different that unbolt and swap over.

I've been to the sellers house this morning and the 'good condition' seats were shot to s**t with more rips than jon bon jovi's jeans and chunks of foam missing. That coupled with 2 decades worth of mildew was slightly dissapointing................
Anyway, in the interests of knowing whether they'll fit or not I took out my passenger seat and the good news is that it was a direct fit with no swapping of runners or any problems.
I must add that I only have the guy's word that they were from an E28 'C' reg M535i, so if anybody else decides to go down the route that I did, it's definitely worth the drive to check first.
