i'm buying Wez's BBS's at the weekend and I seem to remeber some people recommending thread locking compound or something to put on the centre caps so they are less easy to nick. I'm thinking stronger is better as they will only last a week or two where i park my car....

Any Ideas? thanks

Some kind of silicone or body sealant between the parts that slide over each other it probably all you can do.

That'll make it them difficult to turn. You probably don't want to use locking compound because it'll have to be reapplied every time you take the cap off.

The lock as BBS intended would be quite good (requiring the big hex tool to get enough force). It's 3 plastic tabs which click into grooves when closed. By this stage you'd be lucky if even one of them hadn't yet broken off. This is why they can be undone by hand.

Anyone thought of drilling & tapping the wheel and screwing through the cap?

Id get new centre caps if 1 of the 3 teeth have broken off! One of the caps on my old 4 pot broke off and spun itself down the road cause it was down to two teeth!
Im lucky i garage mine so i dont wake up to a bare x spoke surprize :(

It had two cap to wheel teeth or two cap rotation locking teeth?

The 3 cap to wheel teeth are very important, but I think the rotation locking ones aren't as much.

Yeah it had two cap to wheel teeth, but even if all the teeth are there, the plastic would probably get worn over the yrs and wont be as stiff so would pop off quite easily. :?

I've been planning to try exactly that. I was just going to drill a small clearance hole into the cap then spot-thro onto the wheel. You can then drill and tap to suit maybe an M4 grub-screw or similar.
The bonus is that to steal the cap, you would have to shatter it!
