Hey peeps.

I'm Phil from manchester. Spent nearly all day yesterday browsing here, so thought I'd better say hi.

Anyways. I will soon be on the look out for a nice E30 325i sport, something like Reedy's or Wilsons would do just dandy. Had bomb loads of cars in the past, but never a BMW. Think its about time that changed.

Please don't offer me your cars just yet as the money is not in the bank and I will just end up selling my mum to fund it, lol.

Any ideas on how much I am looking at spending for a decent condition 325i?? Must be Black or dolphin grey though, no other colours

well, maybe not a sport, I dont know, I aint that clued up on the BM's.

Gotta be a hardtop 325, with the mtech kit on and some juicy alpina rims.

I dont know the difference between mtech 1 and 2 apart from the rear spoiler beoing different.

The full Mtech 2 looks cleaner and more modern in plastic.
The full Mtech 1 looks more old school german muscle car, in chrome bumpers and dramatic lines.

There are problably more Mtech 2 cars in good condition around (sure are here in australia), but Ive seen some 1s that look bad arse on here.

I like the 1 better, but thats jus' 'cos I likes them chrome bumpers.

McPikie...with a Saxo...from Manchester...

Were you registered on the Saxo Sports Club? Welcome! I'm Ollie (kingbreezer) from SSC, I'm also making the switch from Saxo to 325i sport. I'm going to look at one this week (see post above mine :D)! This bunch are very helpful and friendly; much more so than anyone on SSC.

As a newbie it's not really my place to say 'welcome' yet, but as you're a fellow convert I need to say it!
Welcome and nice one!

Welcome dude!

Mtec 2 sports look nice but I have to say the Mtec1's are beginning to look very special now, there just doesnt seem to be any on the road.

The other thing to take into consideration is that the Mtec1's have higher compression engines (9.7:1 compared to 8.8:1). They consistently put down more power on dyno's that mtec2's and they do go better.

Mtec1 cars however do rust alot!

The dreaded red tin worm eh?

I've not suffered that since my ford days. Will have to keep my peeprs peeled then. Any target areas to check??

Welcome mate

I think the main areas for the rot are rear arches, scuttle panel below windscreen and anything thats been covered by the Mtech kit - sills etc.
Theres probably some more places to look, but I cant think of them

Its a bit of a gamble buying an Mtech kitted car as the kit will hide any bad areas, although you could be lucky and it may be clean. Im dreading taking my Mtech kit off and finding out how bad mine is. :?

When looking to buy my Sport, I saw an Mtech 2 sport that was rusted away at the back - rear valance and boot floor were all but gone. I could touch the battery from the outside whilst laying on the floor. 8O
(The 325i has the battery in the boot, except Cab and touring)
