Take off all the black plastic on the front of the car, the scuttle covers, door rubbing strips. Rub them over with a scotch pad, then re-paint in satin black.
Lose the two badges on the front grill.
Paint the wing mirrors in body colour.
You'll barely recognise it.

Black up all the black bits, polish and wax the paint, shine up all the chrome bits, get the wheels and glass immaculate and it should look pretty sweet.

Is it lachs silver or Delphin?
Colour code the bumpers, get rid of the chrome round the windows, sack the AA badges on the grills and paint them satin black, 15" BBS's, 40mm drop and a Tech-1 boot spoiler.
Job done

Buy a set of bumbers (just the bumpers, not the valance) 2nd hand on here. Have a go at spraying them up in the body colour, and the SE lip on the valance. Fresh satin black the corresponding parts. If that goes well, try the mirrors. The grilles are also very, very simple. Both sides and the kidney in the middle, all done in fresh satin black.
Remove the headlight wipers, or fiddle (and paint) with them to make them look decent again. A simple Tech 1 spoiler and SE skirts never goes a miss for styling a moredoor.
Could do all that for sub £100. Spoiler, skirts, paint and time. The car will be totally different.
Then comes the wheels, and the addiction. Steering wheels, interiors, body parts, engine and suspension upgrades, anything with a genuine Alpina badge... etc...
A photography lesson wouldn't go a miss either.

There's not a lot (if anything) wrong with that - it's the way it left the factory and therefore the way BMW intended. Times have moved on and some of us have to a greater or lesser degree, 'smartened' up (or ruined) the look as outlined in the posts above. A purist would say with some justification that all it needs is a very thorough clean, polish and wax. Blacken the bits that should be black and with nice shiny paintwork, it will look great. There aren't that many
original E30s left on the roads and just because yours hasn't got the 'zoned-look' doesn't mean that it's any less of a car.
Colour-coding, add-on bits, lowering and x-spoke wheels are purely a matter of taste or lack thereof. The key thing with making any alterations is to remember it's
your car and you have to live with it. Take your time and don't rush to make major changes just to impress
the boyz. The only matter for urgency as far as I can see is the removal of those grill badges. They really do say "retired, overweight doctor with a dodgy hip, pebble glass specs and a bald head with freckles!

Give it a good polish, stick some 15"bbs on it.Then shove an M52 in it and have a sleepeer.
simples
Seriously tho colour code the bumber and mirrors, get rid of the ornaments and give it the polish of it`s life.Doesnt realy matter what it looks like as long as you like it.

The only other thing I'd say is if you're going to satin black the door trims, do it on the car as it's a right pain in the arse taking them off and, more so, getting them back on looking 'factory.
DavieP up there has pretty much nailed it for my money.

Give it a t-cut and a good polish then attack the black and dont forget to clean the wheels and tyres mate.
Ive just done mine and it does pay off.
Dont forget that its YOUR car and whatever you do , make sure its for yourself.
Mart.
