genuine bmw parts for servicing, worth the money? Discuss

Well after pricing servicing parts for my 325i sport and getting a slight shock I was wondering what are peoples opinions on here?

Can we really justify spending almost 30 quid for an fuel filter when we can buy aftermarket filters for a fraction of the price?

Does a bmw stamp on an air filter/oilfilter/fuel filter mean they are superior to an aftermarket filter?

discuss!

A GSF supplied MAN oil filter is more like £3

GSF, ECP and the like sell you OEM parts

OEM = Original Equipment Manufacturer, which means this is the company that makes the parts BMW sell you

I think you mean Genuine BMW Parts, or BMW Approved Parts, which are supplied by BMW with their part numbers and warranty which is the only difference to OEM stuff

Genuine service parts are a complete and utter rip off! No brainer, GSF/ECP every time

bmw service parts are to expensive especialy when you can buy the same equipment from gsf ecp for a third of the cost.
But when it comes to buying body panels only genuine will do!
Aftermarket panels are poor quality, poor fit and corrode mutch quicker than the genuine part. Even the parts that do fit half sensible are no where near as good quality as the genuine part.
Thats why I would only fit genuine body parts to my road car winkeye

i wouldn't tell people to use bmw service kits because of the price and the only difference is they have a stamp with the bmw badge some where .
saying that on my silver sport i used genuine oil and fuel filter just for that badge now Imagen my disgust when the fuel filter arrived and that was just a man filter with a bmw clear sticker wrapped around it ..

I always get genuine parts. Only non gen items on my car are the wheels, suspension, exhaust and air filter. 8)

From BMW's own Texan oil well.

I use BMW oil filters, but that's it.

No. Add Mobil1 to the list then. I also don't use OEM spec Goodyear tyres. Or air in the tyres from a BMW source

I don't think BMW service parts are that expensive? especially when bought via the zone so you get a discount and free delivery.

I buy genuine parts from the dealer. TBH,my local dealer has been very good over the years,as i have had really good discounts and the parts supply/service has been excellent.
It does help when the people that work there appreciate the older models though. 8)

Ive just bought a new oil filter for,i think,£7.

if its a good/newish car then go genuine but for 20 year old bangers id say its not worth the extra cost.
