E30 Zone

Wheel Arches ? My car is soon to be heading its way to the body shop for a full repaint so that got me thinking now is the time to do anything im dreaming of before its to late... and then i saw this http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee11 ... 74/dfc.jpg

and now im thinking i realy want to extend the wheel arches a little, has any one else done this ? i dont realy want to fit a body kit to the car as i realy like the standard tech 2 kit which its already wearing but i would like to blow the wheel arches out a little to make it a bit different heres a few more pics of the above.

Any ideas on doing a mod like this are much apperciated.

I actually prefer that style of arch(rounded) to the boxy M3 style.

You must be crazy!!!

But I do think the wide arches suit the Tech II kit quite well......and you would definitaley need some really wide wheels to fill them.

What results would youy get on an e30 if you were to just flare the arches rather than bodywork like this......anything similar??

I thought about this for my tech 1. Still unsure how it would look Can't beat the standard look with tech 1 skirts..can it?

I have done this with my Tech 2 cab. I will see if i can find the thread in the pics section when i get a mo

Ben i'm ok mate. I scrapped the last convertible. Sold the blue one to a Zoner and still have the Orange (Now Red one) but everything has changed from the pics

this is what does it for me,


standard arches trimmed, rolled and pulled, with the wheels filling every spare mm.

i don't like them when theyre rolled so flat they're totally smooth, and i dont like the arches on the silver / white car on the trailer, theyre much too tall above the wheel.

add on arches are fully gay on e30's !!!!

if anything you just want to fuly flare and smooth the standard arches



you'll still fit some monsterously wide wheels under them

I agree they are crap! The last convertible in my 1st link had fibreglass flared arches and it cracked along the weak joints where the arch is bonded to the body the 1st pot hole i hit. I scrapped the car instead of going through the hassel of wasting money to keep redoing it. With arches they have to be metal otherwise they wont last 5 min. The blue cab was running 17x10 fronts and 17x11 rears so yes you can get some wide rims under metal flared arches

i am good ben same old really just trying to sell the tourer or maybe just the running gear etc but
glad you kept the now red one is it still the same from gaydon last year ???

Maybe I'm getting old but all I can think is how easy it would be to curb those wheel whilst parking.

Isn't that tyre on back to front??

the cars half way through being built so i dont think he cared to much about the tyres being on the correct rotation, wheels were fitted so it could roll about.

Thanks Robbs for the link, Basicly it looks like i just have to split the inner and outer arch, fold out, weld, seal and skim with filler ...

If you dont want fat arches then you might get away with your arches being rolled or pulled. People like arch enemy's do it, but i've heard mix stories about them. Dips also does it so might be with talking to him depending on your location. The Germans run 10j's rear with pulled arches and no cutting, but your rims will stick out slightly

yep, futting add on arches would also require pretty much as much work as you'd need to cut and weld the arches for clearance before you put on the arches anyway.


im thinking of getting an arch roller myself too as i did the ones on the ps13 up there ^ and i did such a good job i recon i've got the knack lol .

Not as easy as it sounds! Dont forget you will also have to mod your bumpers depending on how the arches are flared or they wont line up!

Has anyone put riveted arch extensions on an E30 (say a driftcar)? I know it's not OEM/stylish etc. but would be cool on a more performance oriented car....
