Hiya all, just a little update. I've been toying with what to do in terms of respraying, and decided to give the home made respray a go before I eventually do a full pro respray in a year or two. Wanted to get at least a reasonably good looking car for the next couple of years beforehand though.

So, off we go. Most of the car's been prepped, and i've started spraying the panels that are simple and easy to deal with, kinda just to see how it looks.

Um....

I cant believe im saying this but - what an improvement!

As a stop gap, i'm seriously impressed with the results you can get (if you take your time, prep properly etc). Obviously it isn't absolutely perfect, but tbh, unless your a pro, or you know it's been done, I doubt many people would even realise.....

I'll post more pictures as I progress, and add panels etc, but would really appreciate comments good or bad from everyone. I know it won't last n all, but as a stop gap until the pro respray happens, and as its garaged and will be a summer only car, I think itll last a good couple of years, and all for about £100. Bargain imo :)

So long as you prep it well and get enough on there you can always polish it smooth again. It will take lots of time and effort though!

Good job!

a front valance and coded plastic bits are all i'd rattle out,
i'll bet there is a difference between your wing and the door it's going to sit next to.
but if your happy -your happy.

good point magpie - time will tell i suppose & itll probably be semi-visible but so far so good. Like I said, its not a permanent thing, but will definitely look better than not doing it :).

Plenty going on caneswell, 7 coats of the white and 4-5 of lacquer, with 3-4 of primer on top of the exitsing paintwork (where ok). itll all be finished off with a fine smoothing compound once hard & strong
