325 auto cab, really that slow???

I have a e30 325 cab which is a auto.

It drives nice, and is a good cruiser, but by god its damn slow.

Never driven a manual but are auto cabs really sluggish.

Its barely moves with kick down.

The engine is fine, no worries there, just thought it would be a bit more quicker.

Mine flies

Not quite as quick as my old manual cab, but still quick. The kick down comes in and pushes me back in the seat on hard accelleration as it should

My Auto was always a mover as a 2.5. They are a quick car when on form. Even better now it has the 2.7 in it.

my 325i auto cab definitely keeps me satisfied in and around town. I wouldn't class it as *fast* (drove porches and lambos) but it does move very nicely with kickdown.

its the petrol guzzelling that gets to me, more then anything!

there is supposed to be a kickdown switch near your peddle, give that a look to see if you have kickdown working, if its not, then im not surprised that it barely moves.

it is all a matter of what you define as fast, in all honestly most cars will beat a 325 these days as they have similar power and less weight, especially in the 0-30mph area, fomr there the torque of the six pot should see it right.

i have had 320 auto cabs, 325 auto coupes, 325 man coupes and 318i man coupe and the slowest is the 320 then 318 then 25 auto then manual. and all of these are certainly faster than seymour's porch winkeye

so when you say it is slow what are you comparing it to? and secondly what gearbox do you have (i.e. is there a 123 S E switch next to the geat selector?)

I am going to have to drive another to see if there is any problems.

I did have the head done about 2000 miles ago.

Maybe could be a issue with the engine.

i'm in agreement with most of the comments here, the big engined autos are not slow, but clearly lose a bit to manuals.

i've had both the sports switchable and standard auto on 325's and always loved the kickdown once you are doing more than 40.. and sounds very nice too!
