I've been looking at this H26 for sale:
http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/1599316.htm

It clearly needs some tidying, but does anyone have any personal experience with this car? What kind of condition is it in?

Providing there is no rot hiding this looks like it could be a lovely car with a little fettling.

Worth £2.5k all day long I would say.

Well if the general condition of the car is an indication of how it's been looked after I'd leave it alone - unless it was very cheap and it's not cheap enough to tempt me!

Oh and I think it's a repost

A lack of metal behind that bodykit was my main concern. The ad does say that the previous owner used it as a daily, so a bit of neglect could result in that kind of appearance, but not necessarily terminal problems.

Granted the body work is a lil tatty but it has some tasty morscels on there.

All the kit is present, 6 branch, back box, strut brace and the seats arent showing any signs of wear. With a few £100 off i think this could be a good buy (providing it has a floor and bulkhead present).

But if he's used it daily and it looks like that, what else has he not done? It's strip and rebuild time - over 100k and neglected!

You're right though nothing terminal!

My thoughts exactly, which is why I was looking to see if anybody knew it or had viewed it.

if the side skirts aren't fitted properly they are a watertrap and the sills will need checking thoroughly, the 2 hartge's I have broke have had very poor sills the rest of the kit (valances) shouldn't have contributed to rust promotion , but check all normal area's as on any 2 door E30

inner arches (remove rear door cards and boot trim to inspect properly) also area above back light's ,battery tray, under fusebox, sunroof area/roofskin ,jacking points, scuttle, front valance and wings

Repost perhaps, but the old threads aren't exactly overburdened with real information though are they?

Thanks for the advice, is there any easy way of removing components of the kit without damaging other parts, or can you easily get a good idea about the sills from looking underneath?

hartge finds are normally secret squirell affairs and m3 cab ones get locked/deleted.

i cant find the 1st thread about this car but there are all the pics about it etc from when it became forum news.

IMO, thats a car worthy of a strip to the bones rebuild...

and worth £2.5 all day long if it runs and will pass an MOT (or without any real major failures).

Gonna be expensive thoug, but a worthwile, rare car to own :P
