There's just no rules or logic!
Post your shockers up here.
1) Vapor Barrier film (clear sticky plastic basically) - £30 per meter!
2) A-Pillar Tweeter Pods £25 to £45 each in 2 months!
3) MTECH II Wheel - £110 in 2001 - now £275.
Wow.

That's not a shocker Alex! What would a full rebuild cost with new EVERYTHING - about the same.
How about 15" BBS £250 each with no centre caps or tyres!

I think BMW is actually very reasonable for a dealer.
I just wish the 370mm Tec1's weren't NLA.

They are NLA as a total wheel but you can buy the wheel and the centre push separately - which is what I just did at £250! Sold my old wheel for £180 tho and a rim only re-trim was £100ish so still cheaper to go to BMW.
BMW are super reasonable on some and other stuff is just crazy - that's my point - no logic.
I think the pattern appears to be sub contracted parts aren't too bad but stuff they make is nuts, trim etc.

i bought my tech II wheel seperate, was listed on Partsauction for £140 odd then the time postage and VAT was added it came to a reasonable £160
got a used center for £10

The little M tech stickers that go on the side pods and rear spoiler were 42p each when I brought some approx 2006, they want something stupid like £5 each now

Ratch - totally agree - you cant second guess them - things that you think will be buttons are relatively expensive, some things that you would never dream of buying are relatively reasonably priced.
Bit of a joke in my local BMW dealership now where I ask him for the price of every nut and bolt (charged me nearly £6 for 2 nuts once.)
I always thought that the archive market is one that BMW could exploit online - imagine you could go on live to their system, order your part and get it posted - I think it would do a bomb.
We all browse the bmw fans and real oem websites.

Offer it worldwide and you get high prices.
The Candians and Aussies for some reason can't get them? Have sold 2 now internationally - £140 + £180.
Sold a Tech 1 in Japan for £120 too.
Also sold a boot lid trim for a profit over the dealer cost!

Polythene sheet from the local hardware store and a roll of black nasty - sorted. Mine has been on for a year and no issues.

I think you'll find these "huge price increases" have more to to with fluctuations in Euro/Sterling exchange rates than actual price increases implemented by BMW themselves.
If you were able to check the lower and higher prices in Euros, there wouldn't be that much difference.
Blame our government!

Bulkhead 'Elephant trunks' are now nearly £17 + vat . Rear number plate lights ? how about £35 + vat !!!! each

This is not currency realignment, it's gouging of the highest order !

Nothing to do with currency - as parts whittle down, prices go up.
They will make some NLA parts up new when they get enough orders. Carpets are an example.
But sports seat back for instance went from £45 each to £82+VAT in 1 month.
Ouch.
I'm sure this is why M parts are so costly because they never made that many.

On a positive note regarding M parts, Mobile Tradition made a certain NLA part available for me on request the other day much to my surprise, and the dealers.
On that basis i would say that BMW keep a certain minimum stock level that can be pillaged under cetain circumstances...
Food for thought

The new champion mick-take.
