Hello
I found both of my front jacking points looking like this when I removed the front wings;
What is the most common procedure for repairing this ?
Thank you

I was wondering if they could be cut/ground off as from what I understand they were only used in production/shipping and they are by unfortunate design a bit of a rust trap, I have the same problem on my e30 and e28.
I use bilt hamber products for rust removal and treatment, have a look on their website as it is very informative on rust, once you know your enemy, defeating or prevention comes much easier!

remove the "jacking point" completely, its only 3-4 spot welds. that leaves a nice area to work with when covering up the holes.
you might only have the hole in the side of the well to deal with. you might get away with a clean up of the floor. only way to find out is to remove the non jacking point.

Ok mate, give the area a good cleaning off with a wire brush to see how far the rust has gone.

Angle grind the rust away, see how bad that is, treat it... Lots of products... Not sure if its a structural spot but if you can, get it welded, if you cant get that done, rivvet some metal plating on it, bash it into shape, filler it up, then underseal the whole shadow line to neaten it up, job done.

needs to be welded, anything else is a botch.
getting rid of the thingumajig means it wont trap shite to make it rust again.
