I'm looking to order myself tech 2 front and rear valnces next week but don't find many secondhand ones painted in metalic black.
Does anyone know how much i'd be looking at just to get the 2 bits sprayed? I know it varies place to place but if anyone can give a ballpark figure?
Thaaaaaaanks

I just got quoted 400 for a full M-Tech kit for an e28, plus a few bits and pieces of tidying up round the car. First quote though, I'm waiting for a few more. I'll keep you posted!

Just stone chips on the bonnet and things like that. I want the paint touched in nice and clean so I can have her machine polished and looking her best before she hits the road!
What kind of figures have you been hearing for the job on yours?

Not had the E30 checked out yet, but i took my old MR2 Turbo to a place near me to get the bump strips colour coded and they wanted £200 for that alone!
So i might not go there for the whole kit. There's a couple places round me where i haven't been so gonna check those out before deciding. Hoping it'll be a similar price to what you've had quoted.

For panels not fitted to the car like bumpers you should not expect to pay more than £100 per panel +vat if they are in reasonable condition ie not needing loads and loads of repair work. The panels should be done in clear over base not cheap direct gloss for that sort of money. If we are talking body panels you would be looking at prices in the range of £120-£150 per panel, the reason for body panels being more money is because of the MET invoved(strip and fit) and the extra cost of masking the rest of the car . If the damage or repairs are close to the edge of a panel you may also require a color blend, this is required as sunlight lightens the pigment in paint over time, so paint that was painted 20yrs ago is not going to be the same color today as it was when it left the factory. Blend panels should cost less than the standard panel price as less prep is involved.
I hope this gives you a idea of fair pricing

Cheers for that buddy,
The bumper's i was gonna get are just Tech 2 replica's so will be brand new and need no repairs etc. I need to have a shop around and see where's cheapest around me.
Thanks for the info, now i know if i'm being ripped off or not!

no prob mate
Cheap isnt always best! being a replica part you need to make sure the bodyshop doing the work prime's the bumper with a high solid 2k primer, this will make a better finish when sanded back before paint removing any minor defects common with replica kits.
You should also check if the bodyshop is going to use clear over base even if the car is a solid color, some bodyshops will paint older cars that have solid color in 2k direct gloss because it is cheaper and only require 2 coats. This cheaper paint is no good because it looks to shiny, will not wear well and fade faster than original paint.
Most of the time you have to pay the right money to get the job as there are somany lashers out there!
Good luck

let us know how you get on.
